The Greenhead Hotel

Nice friendly staff from arrival to departure. Good clean decor with quality food both evening meal and breakfast. Will definitely visit this hotel again.

I used to run my own kitchen and know how difficult it is to serve up well cooked, interesting dishes that also have an original twist - and keep to budget so that the customer doesn't get charged too much. The kitchen team at the Greenhead did an exceptional job. The menu is reassuring - not so big that you couldn't manage to cook everything fresh, which they obviously did. My arancini was Italian perfect - to die for. I had the pheasant which was cooked to perfection, as was the leg croquette. Even the cabbage was perfect - do you have ANY idea how difficult it is to get cabbage "just right" when cooking for large numbers? The temptation just to leave it sitting warm. . The wine list the same - not huge, but still very good. I had the Wakefield Riesling and the Argentinian Malbec ( V. V. nice!) Do not even get me started on the desserts - I stole some of my partners toffee pudding - yum! but best of all was my chocolate cremeaux. Oh, my. . . I eat out quite a bit, always searching for a "good" restaurant. I live on the South coast so that shouldn't be too difficult - but there's always something not right, sometimes WAY not right! The only thing I could find to complain about at the Greenhead was that there was nothing to complain about. I do enjoy a little moan. . none here. And the front of house staff were great, too nothing too much trouble, friendly and professional. Terrific place - such a pity it's so far from home - oh - there's my moan! So it really DID deliver on everything!

My wife and I stayed here for a night while walking The Hadrian’s Wall Path, the hotel being conveniently located less than half a mile off the path. Clean and very comfortable room. Tastefully decorated. Lovely fluffy towels. Excellent evening meal with friendly, welcoming staff. Recommended.

Tremendous soufle, exceptional roast dinner and delightful service. The perfect end to a cracking weekend. I'd heard it was good and word of mouth was true to form. Will be back soon, thank you. Just need to grt this up to 200 characters now! Ah, there we go!

Fantastic inventive food served with panache by Charlotte, who was extremely helpful throughout the meal and our stay. The lovage parfait was the most memorable dish, but the souffle was also spectacular. Thoroughly recommended for food and a place to stay.

Wonderful pub/hotel. Very welcoming staff and superb location. Food was excellent as was the choice of beer. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was a particular highlight with a wide range of locally sourced ingredients. Excellent value and superb hotel!

Wonderful stay. Room, food, drink, service and location all first-rate. Price reasonable. Box lunch for each of two days walking Hadrian’s Wall much appreciated. Late afternoon Scrabble and half pints in the lovely front room was fun. Great way to start the walk.

Beautiful hotel! We spent a night here on our tour of Hadrian's Wall - excellent location, especially if you're walking the wall. Room was very comfortable and roomy for all 3 of us, shower was amazing. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious.

Only our second visit for lunch at this superb and friendly Hotel, Bar & Restaurant, but we will definitely dine here again, and recommend to our friends and family. The food was first class, the hospitability was first class and relaxed, and the decor and atmosphere is relaxed, clean and informal. It looks like it has been refurbished recently but its not overtly contemporary or dated inside, very tasteful. The standard of the food in terms of choice, quality and presentation really is first class and the prices are very reasonable considering. There is also a vegan menu with plenty of choice, not just a token dish. I would 100% recommend The Greenhead Hotel, Bar & Restaurant.
