If I am honest I booked this hotel as I expected a 5 star hotel to have a pool or be near the beach, at the very least have a gym. After booking I realised I was wrong in all respects, so hired a car for the two week stay, the nearest pool is Waterland - a 35 min drive away, the nearest beach is Perea - a 35 min drive away. Parking is 25 euros a night, but the hotel provide a free valet service which makes the experience quite pleasant. This having been said, the hotel is extremely well located to Thessaloniki and central, the rooms are lovely and clean. The service is beyond exceptional. For a 5 star, it did however let itself down...we wrote in November over 8 months before our arrival in July, to explain our teenage (15 and 18) children are male and female and can not share a double bed, we asked for a twin room and were told in the circumstances and because there were only a couple of twin rooms in the hotel, the request would be "noted". I assumed this meant it was all in order, as we were staying 2 weeks and I had explained why a twin was needed....noted meant "ignored" - and we arrived to be told the hotel was full and noted really meant "subject to availability" which meant "ignored"...luckily my son was arriving a few days later and a twin was made available to us before he arrived, but not without much discussion and me getting quite frustrated. The rooms: well the radio didn't work (it was fixed) the TV didn't work (again fixed the following day), the fridge didn't work, and we were still discussing broken fridges 8 days into the 14 day stay - it was eventually sorted. The light bulb was broken (again it was fixed). These things can happen, and everything was sorted with a smile, what was still disappointing is that there was no streaming services- the only channel in English is BBC news. So no gym, no pool, no beach, no watchable TV...not to worry, the breakfast must be superb you are thinking... The breakfast: the buffet is AMAZING, really lovely mix of food, juice and great coffee - but again, a bit like everything else im the hotel it let itself down at the final hurdle, the cooked menu - which quite frankly was disgusting. The Eggs Benedict, had no hollandaise sauce, the omlet was so overcooked and dry it was awful and so if you want something warm sausage and cheesy chips are an option and were ok. But, if you stay away from the cooked food, the rest was amazing, and service was good. All in all, I am not sure if I just expected too much from a 5 star hotel...I just felt that the stay could have been better, with more preparation (reserving the room requested in November), checking the rooms for working fridges, lights, radios and perhaps even considering complimentary daily water in the rooms. BIG SHOUT OUT to the staff, who were without exception lovely and accommodating and apologetic when things weren't right - they are likely what makes this hotel a 5 star! But my review is a 4 star, as it my stay didn't have the 5 star
