Currently staying at the Svatma. Unfortunately all got off to a bad start right from the beginning - when we arrived our driver had to look for someone to welcome us. Instead of checking us in we were taken to the spa where hard selling for treatments was done. Arrived in our room one hour later, we found the sheets were filthy and probably not changed after the last guest. A complaint was handled unprofessionally and it took two inquiries to have the sheets changed. The property could be a gem if more care was taken - however it is filthy (the tablecloths in the restaurant serve as an example) and staff overall gives the impression that guests are a nuisance and they have not been properly trained to work in the hospitality sector. Glad to escape this place tomorrow!

Based on the last 2 hours, this hotel has the worst service that I have experienced. Our family was kept waiting over an hour for dinner to arrive. My repeated requests for extra towels and laundry service have been ignored. And this is just the start of our stay! I am NOT looking forward to the next 2 days here. Possibly Svatma feels that the paucity of decent hotels in Thanjavur means that they can get away with absolutely crappy service. I don’t know whether they will even get around to reading this review before 2025!

Excellent boutique hotel Friendly staff Tasty food Good breakfast choice Vegetarian hotel Nice bar Good spa Comfortable rooms Value for money Beautiful grounds . Mattresses could be firmer other than that would recommend to all travellers as location is very good .

Das Hotel ist wunderschoen. Hab ein Zimmer im Altbau bekommen und das Zimmer ist sehr schoen und sauber. Abends ging es ins Restaurant wo das Buffet vorgebucht war. Es gab nur vegetarisches. Das Essen war leider fast nicht gewuerzt. Beim Nachfragen bekam *** eine Wuerzmischung. Als *** bezahlen wollte war das leider nicht möglich weil kein wechselgeld vorhanden war.

Off all the hotels and homestays we used on our trip to Southern India sadly this was the most disappointing. On arrival we were greeted and pointed (Felt rushed ) into having the complimentary foot spa treatment at the pool. Our room 202 was in the old part of the hotel. Our room was on the 1st floor, was spacious and was off a lounge area that was also used for meetings. Weirdly, there was a young *** sitting in the corridor eating and watching TV on his mobile phone through most of our stay. We went for a swim, the pool is right outside the restaurant entrance and there were only 4 pool loungers. Whist at the pool my wife sought to book a spa treatment was offered a very tatty list to choose from. Her treatment was apparently rushed with no water or time to recover afterwards. Menu was quite limited, we ate on the roof terrace where the service was sparse and no check back. The garden was small and adjacent to reception where it was busy with people coming and going. Sadly, I would not recommend the hotel on the level of service we encountered. Peter & Gill

Over rated hotel. Very average food. Nice swimming pool but poor seating arrangements next to pool. Could not sleep because of machinery noise in room 304- told because of malfunction in kitchen extraction fan! Excellent hotel manager moved us to a silent room. All the staff extremely friendly except the barman who refused ice cubes for our room & wanted me to pay!!!! Charged for water on the dining table!!!! This hotel takes mainly coach loads of foreign tourists so has got a bit lazy & sloppy.

Il ne fait pas toujours se fier à internet les avis sur cet hôtel n’était pas terrible donc très bonne surprise pour moi suite très confortable literie parfaite et accueil au top breakfast buffet aux choix la piscine j’ai pas eut le temps mais elle était très tentante
