Fairfield Inn & Suites St. Louis South

The hotel was pretty nice. There are some nice restaurants near by. We went to an oriental one, Sunrise Asian Food, and it was in walking distance. The aslo have cookie and milk happy hour from 8 - 9. They have a pool which was also nice. The reason I only gave it a 4 instead of 5 is they charge a convention and tourism tax. It was about $15. PLEASE. I wish hotels would stop ripping off customers. If your hotel needs to be $15 more, just make the rate $15 more. I hate being nickled and dimed to death. Just make the cost of the room, the cost of the room, not this fee and that fee.

I have stayed at this property several times. The staff at this property appreciate that you stay here. The staff make you feel comfortable. Housekeeping makes sure you have a clean comfortable room. When in the area, this is the only place I will stay.

The hotel room was clean, but the whole place smelled of cigarette smoke outside of the rooms. The front desk person was less than personable and seemes irritated when we asked for towels and inquired where the laundry was. The pool is VERY small. The breakfast was not great at all, basically it was bagels and yogurt. My biggest complaint was the roll-away bed we requested, it was a very gross bed with stains all over it, and they didn't even give us more pillows for it. I'm really confused how this got such a high rating.

This newer Fairfield Inn was conveniently located along I-55 south of St Louis which worked with our plans. Unfortunately there was no room upgrade as a GOLD member - they claim the place was booked for the night. The parking lot sure didn't look full early in the morning... Many will give you a bottle of water or some other perk as a elite member but nothing. The room itself was nice and in good shape. The only downside was the absolutely horrible water pressure in the shower. Is there a drought here? The breakfast at Fairfields are usually OK but this one was the most spartan ever. They didn't have at least a quarter to a third of the food offerings we have seen at other locations. Disappointing.
