Kind of a mixed bank. The rooms were fine, a few moths but the location was good in that it was very tranquil and not so good because it's almost two hours from the lodge (16 mile road of which 3 are unpaved) to Big Bend National Park. The restaurant was having personnel issues as their was not cook and the service was incredibly slow. We ate before the long (nearest other restaurant is about 45 minutes away) drive back in the evening or drove out each morning and ate on our way to the park.

******* failed to confirm our Spring Break reservation with the lodge despite sending me confirmatory emails. The lodge was booked and Terry and the office staff went above and beyond to find us a place locally. We did get to spend some nights in the lodge. Definitely a remote and interesting place. There is lots to explore. The Star Party was great. Room is as described. 2 beds but surprising new and good mattress. Walls are thin but hopefully you are not here for the room. So much to do in the area.

Visited twice, just for the day to see the Christmas Mountains which are a must see for Big Bend devotess. Not as big, but just as beautiful as the Chisos Mountains in the National Park. Talked to several of the staff to sign in for the trip, and they were uniformly super helpful and friendly.

Too far away from the NP over a 3 mile stoney road in the end and 16 miles from main road. At reception at 4 pm nobody there. A lady sits in the reception building with door locked and lights out. Sure, the creditcard did its work already before we arrived. Finally you find an envelope with key and some info. Small bathroom, old building. Shower in bath, loud AC, fridge, no safe. Dinner at Bad Rabbit was ok, but what can you do wrong with a hamburger. We should stay for 2 nights, but will leave after 1. Beds not comfortable. Price not fair considering what you get.

There were four rooms to our building, and the walls between them are very thin, which made it easy to hear my neighbors. It was difficult to sleep at night due to the various noises from adjacent rooms. In particular with younger children, this was somewhat awkward. However, the hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, and the room itself was clean. Yes, there are no TVs and no internet, but that was as advertised. The location was also ok for the national park, but there is no real benefit of driving 30 min from the main highway to get to the hotel. While the noise level was a downside, overall, my stay was acceptable.

Nice place to stay. Beds are excellent. We slept very well. We were visiting Big Bend, so we didn’t do anything, but sleep and shower. It’s very dark and very quiet, so made for good sleeping. The one significant drawback is that it’s 16 miles off of the highway and three of those miles include a VERY bumpy/dusty road. Also, since we were there for the park, it’s 40 more miles to the park, so the lodge is about an hour each way. To do again, I think we would try to stay in the park. Wifi was (understandably) sketchy. You are in the middle of nowhere. No TVs. We were warned about a bear in the area, but didn’t see him.

It’s far from anything—sixteen miles off the highway, last three miles are unpaved and awful. The two days we were there, the restaurant was closed and it’s about an hour to the closest sit-down restaurant. We stayed in one of the ‘rustic’ cabins—they aren’t priced rustic, a better description would be spartan. They’re cheap, shoddy, noisy—we couldn’t sleep because of the snoring in the next room. No amenities at all: no internet, no coffeemaker, no radio, telephone, tv, or cell signal. Beds are cheap folding cots with thin mattresses and thin, scratchy bed linens. And the view: look down the valley and you’re viewing an rv park (complete with barking dogs)—look at the mountain behind you, and there’s a row of rvs. These cabins should rent for something in the $40-$50/night range and the property is just too inconvenient and isolated from the parks and other attractions; except for the pool, there’s nothing to do once you’re there.

Rustic, clean room with all basic necessities, hot shower, clean towels, small refrigerator (we requested over the phone while reserving online), comfortable beds, extra blankets, clean surroundings. Considering there's absolutely nothing within 100 mi radius, this was comfort, esply after long hikes. Cell phone signal is always spotty and nonexistant in some areas here, but wifi signal was decent inside/around the room. Outside lights out and curtains drawn by 9pm to preserve night sky viewing, which is fantastic! Ask about how to get to this little hill behind the property, to watch sunrise, again fantastic view! I suggest where ever you go during the day you plan to always get to your rooms right around dark, as it gets truly really dark for city folks and hard to find this place, so remember where to turn off the highway, remember a few landmarks, remember your left and right turns, as you cannot always trust gps signal here.
