Very friendly atmosphere as we entered into the reception. Our bags had been taken to our room. The room had high decor and very clean . The evening meal of fish was very tasty and well presented. it was good value for money. The cheee board had a good variety of cheese accompanied with fruit, chutney and biscuits There was a range of ales. The veggie breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended.

Stayed at the Kings Arms in Temple Sowerby with friends over Easter Sunday and had a brilliant time. The afternoon kicked off in the beer garden with a barbecue, live singer, hog roast and a special punch—all really well done and a great atmosphere. In the evening we had a fantastic meal—locally sourced venison in red wine jus, beautifully cooked. Easily 5* quality. The bar and lounge had a great feel—relaxed, moody lighting, and very much the modern vintage vibe. We ended the night in the games room with a few rounds of darts and pool. Rooms were a real surprise—much more spacious than expected, with large en-suites and spot-on for a 4* stay. Breakfast was just as good—buffet style with fried egg, grilled tomato, black pudding, haggis, bacon, and plenty of cereal options. All in all, the recently refurbed Kings Arms is a great choice for a short stay near Penrith and the Lakes. A few locals pointed us towards nearby fell walks with panoramic views—so we’ll definitely be back. Big thanks to the staff for a great stay.

Another stay at The Kings Arms this time with friends over Easter Weekend and I can’t talk highly enough about the stay. We arrived and were welcomed by a live singer, BBQ and glorious sunshine in the beer garden where everyone was in high spirits. They even had an Easter Egg hunt for the kids which was a nice touch. A shout out to the front of house staff who ran about after everyone and made sure nobody was missed out on at the bar or outdoors. Food was amazing, rooms had plenty of space and place has really been done up nice. More than happy to be at the One Year anniversary of The Kings Arms reopening and I’ll certainly be visiting again soon

Stayed for a night whilst passing through on a walking holiday (or rather, I arrived on foot and left the following day on a bus as a vicious cold finally got the better of me!). A lovely large old inn in this small village, it served up a surprisingly good Sunday roast dinner followed by my personal favourite - a cheese board with local specialties. Breakfast the following morning was good and wholesome. And service was delightful both in the evening and morning. The room was nice spacious and quiet (well away from the bar / restaurant downstairs). This felt like quite a classy hotel in a mid-size town so how they manage to maintain their high standard in this tiny hamlet is a bit of a mystery. Never the less, it's a fine place and well worth your custom if you're in the vicinity.

Really over priced for poorly cooked food. Felt ripped off. Spent £500 on a family meal was a load of garbage no on even comes to see if ya foods OK. Was one poor girl trying to do everything. If ya going to charge restaurant prices then the food and service needs to be restaurant quality. They would be better just doing good cheap dependable pub food and get some regulars in and not make people feel cheated.

Best Sunday roast I’ve ever had. Stayed here in April with some friends and had a great stay. Really nice accommodation and atmosphere and the food and drink was excellent throughout our stay. The rooms were of a very high standard and very comfy beds. Will definitely be back again

This was our second stay since the Kings Arms was refurbished, and, as before, we couldn't have been more impressed. The staff are friendly, professional and welcoming; the food - breakfast and evening meals - is very very good indeed, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I can't think of one negative or neutral comment to balance my "Excellent in every way" verdict!

Visited the Kings arms on Sunday for lunch with family and had a fabulous meal. The main course was excellent as was the dessert. We all had something different for our main course and everyone one of us thought the meal was superb, The four mains were Beef, Pork, Chicken, and Veal. All excellent and perfect portions. The sweets were the white chocolate and strawberry cremeux with rhubarb and vanilla ice cream, plus Bee Witty pannacotta fantastic. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff excellent. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
