After a ride out, my partner and I stopped for lunch at the King Arms. As we walked in we were met by a waitress who quickly seated us and took our drinks order. We both ordered the scotch egg with black pudding and I had the steak pie whilst my partner had the lamb for mains. The scotched egg was wonderfully cooked, crispy on the outside, whilst the duck egg was still soft in the middle. My steak pie was large but full of beef which melted in the mouth. My partner said her lamb was beautifully cooked and was highly delighted with her choice. It was good value for money, the service was always done with a smile and we will head back.

Really lovely hotel - modern room with good bathroom. Great food - better than expected. Lovely staff. Good breakfast and a good strong pot of Yorkshire Tea. Village is lovely and conveniently located close to Ullswater for our walk. Cheers, Ian and Jacqui

We had a very good stay at the Kings Arms in Temple Sowerby. Location is great for a stop off being close to the A66 and not far from the M6. Easy to park outside the hotel. Our room was a little disappointing. Clean and comfortable but quite small. The addition of a tv, fan and bottled water would have been welcome. The staff are excellent from when you arrive to serving dinner. They also share all the tasks so it feels like a real team effort and creates a welcoming atmosphere. An interesting menu with lots of choices you wouldn’t see on a standard pub menu. Good quality beers and wine by the glass at reasonable prices. Overall - an enjoyable experience.

Difficult one to review because some aspects are v good, some poor. Went for an evening meal, pleasant environment (except for the tatooed bloke reeking of fermented sock - men's scent - but of course not the pub's fault) and well kept beer. Food was a curious one. On the one hand, a good fish dish though rather small portion, which would be okay as part of a 3-course meal, but a bit skimpy for one. On the other, the beef pie, large, filled with meat (though pulled rather than chunks), but much too salty. Chips, more wedges really, were good though served in one of those miniature tin buckets, which I don't like. Small portion of peas served in an eye-shaped dish. The poorest aspect was the decaff coffee which tasted of toasted dust. Important to have decent coffee. Despite the shortcomings I rate it Good because I think it's a simple matter to solve the drawbacks.

Very friendly staff. Excellent food, which caters for gluten free and vegan. Lovely beer. Quiet clean room with a very comfy bed. Loved it! Temple Sowerby is a picturesque village, and well worth walking around to stretch your legs after a long drive. Definitely come again.

We drank here a few times as we stayed across the road. The drink selection is good with a fair range of gins and wines. Husband very happy with Estelle Galicia, who said it was a lovely pint. They do good bitters too. We ate here once and the food was delicious! We shared the pheasant starter and for main course I had stone bass, with a beautiful tasty sauce. My husband had the feather blade beef with chimichuri ….he loved it, I tried it and concur! Well done team, very happy.

Very friendly atmosphere as we entered into the reception. Our bags had been taken to our room. The room had high decor and very clean . The evening meal of fish was very tasty and well presented. it was good value for money. The cheee board had a good variety of cheese accompanied with fruit, chutney and biscuits There was a range of ales. The veggie breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended.

Really over priced for poorly cooked food. Felt ripped off. Spent £500 on a family meal was a load of garbage no on even comes to see if ya foods OK. Was one poor girl trying to do everything. If ya going to charge restaurant prices then the food and service needs to be restaurant quality. They would be better just doing good cheap dependable pub food and get some regulars in and not make people feel cheated.
