Checking in could be a bit easier, but worked out in the end. Brilliant to have easy access to the hot pool. Room comfy, especially the bed. Bedside lights appreciated but could be brighter. Nice to have balcony. Noisy party across the road was an initial concern but not a big issue in the end. Did not find kitchen where I could make toast for breakfast. Great value for money I thought.

When i first entered the lobby, I thought "OMG what is this place ?" It seemed like a hotel version of the Bates motel. The owner who is less than fluent in English seemed incredibly enthusiastic to please but his ideas about running a "hotel" need some mentoring.. The hotel is past its best and is probably more suited to be classed as hostel style accommodation. Certainly not in the $100 a night (solo) that is was listed. $70 would be tops. I arrived wet from a motorbike ride so having a clean bathroom, a hot shower and a/c in the room that I could use to get warm was great. The room was clean, the bed comfy but as other reviewers have said, it needs crisp white sheets.. It is a big, largely empty building and doesn't seem very inviting and has that smell of a million fat fried meals having been cooked there. In summary, it was convenient for me to use but nothing like the picture i had of the place after going to the au.trip.com/hotels to book.

All the reviews have a fair share of truth in them. Don’t expect too much. We did not. Rooms are small and throughout the hotel one can see the lack of care. The biggest issue for us was that the aircon in one room produced a very intense smell of mould. So, we could not heat during a truly cold night. When showing this to the manager in the morning, he acknowledged the issue, blaming it on rain in recent days…. Yeah, right… Some maintenance might help. It was a bit uncomfortable having the male occupants of a neighbouring room bark like dogs to associate over the phone. Most Kiwis might know what folks those were… And I find the hole in our room window suspiciously looking like a bullet hole. What happened there? See photo. Positives for us were clean linen and towels, the hot pool (it’s actually ok although not beautiful) and the communal kitchen and tv room. Trouble for us was that we needed to take 2 rooms for 2 adults and 2 children. Each room can have a maximum of 2 guests. That made it expensive. Conclusion: we would not stay here again but rather do a few more kms to another location. Trouble is that there is a lack of choice in the area.

There is something not quite right with this hotel. On arrival at 5pm from the outside I would have thought the place was completely shut down. The welcoming was good, but the place is filthy. The shared fridge is filled with rotton old food, including milk that went off over a month ago. The room I had was big, but very very tired. The shower ran out of hot water and the plug hole was filled with hair. No milk provided for tea or coffee, no bathroom hook to hang a towel on. The key/power system was weird. I'd not return

Dirty dormitory style room. Floors filthy, don't walk barefoot, even in bathroom- bring bathroom slippers. Big spiders and webs INSIDE room. Bed sheets were clean, but stained. Glasses and cups clean, everything else filthy. Felt like cheap hostel... bed too soft, terrible sleep. I was shown around when we checked in and my husband was given a block of chocolate, other than that, service was hard to find, in fact we had to return later in the day just to check in. Confused why anyone would give a better review. We were keen to check our before anyone saw that we even stayed the night. Bad experience
