The scenery is beautiful, the inn that two old couples have run for forty years is full of art and family, and the two twin dogs are full of vitality. The only drawback is that breakfast starts regularly at 8:30, 8:00 will be awakened in advance with Italian opera... like to get up late and social fear choose carefully. However, dining at the same table with tourists from all over the world is actually a very interesting experience.

We booked this lodge located in Acacia Bay just outside of Taupo for a couple of nights to explore the Taupo region. We had a large room, almost like a small suite, and were overlooking the lake. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and it was possible to have the windows open and sit outside At night, we could see the milky way, the southern cross asf with our bare eyes - a wonderful experience. Staff was helpful and the breakfast very good. The thing to get used to is an informal check-in, that after breakfast you already have to advise staff what you want for breakfast the following day, the parking space is limited and with that, a challenge to maneuver around your car, especially given that most guests arrive with large SUVs or small trucks..

We had a wonderful two night break at Taupo Lodge. We were so well looked after by the team. Gary kindly booked us restaurants and taxis. Chris' canapés were delicious - as was the wine. Victoria was a font of all knowledge regarding where to visit depending on out interests. Thank you all

Shirley, Gary, Victoria and Chris are incredible hosts! It was simply an amazing and very special stay at the Lake Taupo Lodge - absolute luxury combined with family home stay, beautiful gardens and excellent view onto the lake and far away volcanoes. We have enjoyed the plentiful beauty and all the birds singing on your estate. Thank you all !!!

Der Aufenthalt in der Lake Taupō Lodge bei Gary und Shirley und ihrem Team war eines der Highlights unseres Aufenthaltes auf der Nordinsel Neuseelands. Die von Frank Lloyd Wright inspirierte Lodge, der herrliche Blick von unserem Zimmer und der spektakulär schöne Garten machten den Aufenthalt zu einem Erlebnis. Die Gastfreundschaft von Gary, Shirley und dem Team rundeten alles noch positiv ab. Sehr zu empfehlen!

We stayed for 2 nights. You certainly can’t beat the view of the lake! Lovely gardens and our room had a patio and views over the lake. Chris, the chef, prepared some wonderful canapés and wine for us around 6.30pm This is an easy drive into town, although on the edge of Taupo, so either drive or take an Uber. Amenities were very good. Plentiful supply of towels and a lovely big bathroom and storage/hanging area. Great car parking

A high recommend! Such a wonderful welcome by Gary to such a special place. The view from the lake suite was unbelievable. The food was scrumptious with artful and delicious breakfast cooked to order by Chris. The evening cocktail hour was a lovely way to meet guests and to pick the brains of Victoria and Chris as to activities to do in Taupo. Everything was top-notch, and we felt welcomed, refreshed, and spoiled. If you stay, please take time to wander through the incredible gardens.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in dieser ausgezeichneten, wundervollen und sehr persönlich geführten Lodge. Die Gastgeber Gary und Shirley sind so herzlich und wir haben uns sofort wie Zuhause gefühlt. Das ganze Team macht einen super Job. Chris macht die besten Eggs Benedict und Victoria kunstvolle Cappuccinos.
