Taunton Town House

Booked this accommodation as we were seeing a show at The Brewhouse. I'm presuming the building was a vicarage as next to the church and windows very church like. The building is huge with lots of rooms. There is no manned reception so you are given a code number for front door and room. Our room (twin) was on second floor No 17, in hindsight should have asked for a room with less stairs to reach it! My fault. Room was more than adequate for our overnight stay, good ensuite, clean beds. Couldn't be more convenient to town centre. It is on a busy road but has own car park.

It’s a let yourself in the building with a key code and same into your room place. No sight of staff on the premises. Basic doesn’t quite hack it, our twin room needed a refurb, new beds and decent linen. The room didn’t smell fresh, cobwebs and dust everywhere esp on the light shade. Carpet needs taking up and replacing. Bathroom wasn’t very clean in places. No food provided on site. Basic tea/coffee and 4 milk pots, nobody around to replenish. Fire instructions were not even given on the poster. Good parking and free which is why it gained one star. Find yourself a proper hotel and spend your money wisely!

Pros: good size family room, not unreasonable for the price. Fairly clean, if a little tired. Good sized car park. Central location. Cons: rooms on the front are on a busy road. With windows open, this is noisy all night. The hotel is unmanned with key boxes for the rooms, so more like an Airbnb than a hotel. Inadequate milk provided for hot drinks in the room, but reception unmanned.

We found it very noisy struggled to sleep, the front door gets slammed a lot with no staff on to sort this out. Dusty room with a moldy shower curtain and the shower went cold after a couple mins the plumbing makes a horrible noise that can't be ignored. We won't be back.

Hotel is in a great location. However, the customer service is absolutely terrible. There’s a mobile number that is never answered and no reply to voice messages that have been left. Also no response to emails sent. Stayed here 2 years ago and it was so different. Don’t know if it’s new owners but it has certainly gone downhill. Would never stay here again and would not recommend to anyone.

Terrible disgraceful customer service! Accommodation is basic but ok. After my stay I contacted them by email as I hadn’t received my invoice. After no response for a week I phoned the number on the website. No answer but I did get a text asking for the name and date of stay which I provided. After three hours I politely asked if they had sent it and asked for it to be sent to another email as I suspect it wasn’t getting through. They said they can’t do that! Only once I stated I would dispute the payment with the bank if I did not get my invoice did they send it. After saying ‘you must be so poor’. Absolutely shocking treatment from someone in hospitality!

Lovely stay at the Taunton town house. A very grand and well maintained house right in the town centre, plenty of parking right outside which was free of charge which was ideal. Place was very clean and a large superior room with separate seating area

Lovely grand town house, easy access with code entry. Location was excellent a lovely park just down the road from the place. Room was very clean and had everything we needed. WiFi was very speedy and easy access with password. Will be back again

Visiting friends in the area and came across the town house as was driving through. Great grand town house which was very well kept and looked after well could see. The room was a standard room but was very clean and nicely finished. Fantastic location to the town just across the road
