This is a very British-style hotel, located just across the road from Taunton train station, but it's not noisy. Although it has a long history, it has been painted and protected extremely well. The breakfast is English-style, the portions are generous, and I personally like the taste. However, it is an old house after all, there is no elevator, and it is very inconvenient to have a lot of luggage. Moreover, faucets and showers are difficult to adjust, and the water temperature may be hot! However, the heating is really good, but it is also hot.
The lady serving here is very beautiful and patient.

There is no hair dryer and the washbasin is only as big as a palm, making it impossible to wash clothes. My back hurt when I slept on the mattress. I couldn't return it, so I stopped staying here and moved to another hotel.

Nice, helpful staff, particularly the night porter but sadly the hotel is inadequate in so many ways. In a town with few standout attractions you would not expect to have to pay £130 for a low standard experience. The room was adequate but the bed was hard and uncomfortable. There was no bar or restaurant for a drink and evening meal and no other facilities. Breakfast was woefully inadequate with no fruit and a very limited selection of boxed cereal. As extensive travellers we would suggest £80 is the par price and we will not be returning.

This is a bit of a work in progress. I see there are earlier criticisms about the condition but it is clear that refurbishment work has taken place and is continuing. The shower in my room was a beautiful piece of work. However, there is more to do. Neither of the two windows in my room worked properly due to broken sash cords. I had to prop the window open with a toilet roll to get some air in - not satisfactory in warm weather. Shockingly, there was no marmalade at the breakfast table! The location is hugely convenient for travelling by train and the staff are friendly.

This is a great place for a walk in breakfast. You will need to be a little patient as the staff are YMCA trainees but they do a good job and the breakfast is excellent. Be aware that if you walk in you don't help yourself to the resident's buffet, you order and pay at the till (they could do with an explanation) - the garden breakfast is especially recommended. Fair prices too!
