Miru Amami

The hotel staff are very friendly and they also provide airport pick-up and drop-off services! But if you come to Amami and don’t have a car, it’s really inconvenient to travel. But you can ask the hotel to help you book a sightseeing taxi. Everyone should try to avoid the rainy season in June. It rains every day, but we were lucky enough to have a sunny day. The hotel has a lawn to watch the starry sky, which is so beautiful!

Unparalleled holiday choice

The room and breakfast were all great! The sea right in front of the villa was especially beautiful, and I was entranced from start to finish. It was spacious enough for two people, and all amenities were provided. It was a double bed, so I was able to stretch out and sleep soundly. The open-air bath attached to the room was spacious and comfortable, and I had a great time! I definitely want to stay here again🙆‍♀️

We stayed here in February to celebrate my wife's 77th birthday. It was just as good as everyone else had said. Especially the location, the view from the room, the staff, and the food - all have become very fond memories. It was my first time in Amami, and I absolutely loved it. Thank you very much! I would definitely like to stay here again. The meal was a set menu, starting with a cycad soup that incorporated local ingredients and was very delicious. The plates they used were lovely, and they showed me the workshop, so we went to the workshop in Naze the next day. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the plates, as they were made to order in the past, but the craftsman was wonderful and taught me a lot about Amami and wood.

The service was laid back, but polite and warm. I stayed on the mountain view side, but I was able to relax and enjoy myself. Since there is a private beach, I should have stayed several nights and relaxed at the hotel. I regret that I booked a tour and limited my time at the hotel.

We stayed at an oceanfront villa for three nights. It was about 20 minutes by rental car from the airport. The car was not registered in the Navigator, so it was a little difficult to find, but once we got there, it was like another world. From the large windows of the cottage-type room, we could see the sandy beach and the endless sea, and when we went out to the large balcony, we could only hear the sound of the waves and the cries of the black-tailed gulls. It was January, which is the off-season, so we couldn't go into the sea and there were not many tourists, but the time we spent gazing at the deep blue sea with no one around was irreplaceable. We stayed for three nights with breakfast and dinner, and the food was different every day so we never got bored. The portions were a little too much for two middle-aged women, though. Our stay at this hotel made us love Amami Oshima so much that we plan to go back once this summer.

When I went to Amami Oshima for the first time in September using my mileage which was about to expire, I stayed at this inn which I had been interested in for a while. It is a little difficult to get to and a quiet place, but I rented a car at the airport and arrived in about 20 minutes. It had been a while since I had been to the sea due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so just listening to the sound of the waves on a southern island lifted my spirits. After checking in, I was soothed by the view of the sea and mountains from the high ground in the dining room, and after a welcome drink, I was guided to my villa by cart. My room was a hillside villa, but because of the difference in elevation with the villa in front, I could see the sea and mountains. The room was simple but new and spacious enough, and it was comfortable with amenities, a coffee maker, an air purifier, etc. I used the outdoor bath once, but I basically used the shower and bath in the room, so it might have been different if I had stayed in an ocean villa, but personally I don't think you need to worry too much about it when choosing a room. Also, unlike resort hotels overseas, the toilet, washroom, shower and bath are connected and there is no door, so I thought it would be more convenient to have the toilet in a separate room. Meals are served in the dining room, and at night, a creative course meal using various ingredients from Amami and Kagoshima is served. I stayed for several nights, and enjoyed the elaborate menus, which were all completely different, from appetizers to fish and meat main dishes, and rice dishes. They also have a wide variety of shochu brands, which can be served with your meal. You can choose between Japanese and Western food for breakfast, and the hot sandwiches and porridge were both delicious. The staff in the dining room and at the reception were all smiling, and the service and conversation was just right, so I liked them. There is a private beach just a little way down from the room, and although there are not many fish swimming around, you can swim in the crystal clear water right away. At high tide in the evening, more than half of the beach is covered by the sea, but the view from the beach at sunrise in the early morning is beautiful. The path from the room to the dining room is a bit long and has a difference in elevation, but you can enjoy watching the various trees and plants. Be careful of the rare heavy rains that can hit you... There are also almost no shops nearby, so if you don't have a car you will have to order lunch and snacks at the inn. If you have a car, I recommend the Spam rice balls at Shimajin Mart and Lafonte gelato. This was my first visit to Amami, and as it is not as touristy as Okinawa, it has a more rustic atmosphere and I would definitely like to return. This is a high-end accommodation in Amami, but the food exceeded my expectations and I was very satisfied with the room, view and service, so I would like to stay here again if I visit Amami again.
