The Villa Margaretha is an old wooden building full of interest and quirks, although I am not sure this justifies its description as “boutique”. It is located a good 10 minute walk from central Tartu (uphill on the way back), and that walk got annoying after a while. There is a feeling that the hotel is on its last legs - there is no dinner and a limited breakfast is served from a menu and has to be paid for separately. My room had a number of non-working lights and they forgot to clean it one day. There were no curtains on some windows and no blackout linings anywhere - so the morning light came pouring in. The wi-fi is good and free. The reception desk is not permanently manned. On reflection I would rather have been much closer to the relatively small town centre.

Lovely, cozy hotel with atmosphere of the old times. Could almost see ladies walking in their long dresses and umbrellas. The room was very convenient and the bed and pillows really good. Steep stairs were not a problem to me, but If you have problems, ask for the room on the 1st (ground) floor. The staff was extremely friendly. The only problem was that when leaving, I had to pick up my luggage by 16:00 (no personnel after that) and my train left only at 18:55. And there is no loggage store at the station. Anyway that's my hotel in Tartu!

Villa Margarethas's Deluxe suite Marie (3rd floor, narrow stairs, no elevator, so not suitable for disabled people) is maybe the loveliest hotel room I've ever been to (and I've been to few)! Yes the building is definitely not brand new, but that's not what this hotel is about - I love the ageing atmosphere of the hotel! In October it was very peaceful, and the reception is not staffed 24/7 - but we didn't need it to be. Room was spottless clean. Walking distance to grocery store, the old centre etc. And if you don't want to walk, why not catching a Bolt ride - it couldn't be easier! There is a cafe in the hotel, where you can buy breakfast (it is not included in room price). This was our second time in Villa Margaretha, and we will definitely go back if we visit Tartu again!

Chose this place (luckily for one night only) because of a number of good reviews. However, weird place. Feels like they are closing it down. No breakfast anymore. Room had an adjacent old kitchen, but no equipment, not even a coffee maker or water cooker or tea or instant coffee. The lady at check-in did not feel the need to show us our room, but just handed over the key, not to forget to immediately collecting the payment. Not a bad place, but lot of potential for improvement. Not first choice looking at so many nice hotels in Tartu

Il boutique hotel è una dimora antica risalente ai primi del 900,interamente in legno e bellissima!Alcune stanze sono nell'edificio principale ed altre in depandance immediatamente adiacenti.La nostra era ampia,stilosamente vintage con un arredamento molto curato e attento ai dettagli,pulita.Un frigo sarebbe stato comodo ma di certo non avrebbe fatto pendant con il resto del mobilio :-D L'hotel è anche munito di parcheggio privato ed è situato a 10 minuti a piedi dalla stazione dei bus e dal centro di Tartu. Il personale gentilissimo e sorridente. Prezzo nella media. Stra consigliato!
