Just arrived home after a weeks stay. Absolutely beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting. Amazing views of Mount Etna. Room was spacious and cleaned daily to a high standard. Pool area qas lovely with amazing views. We were always able to find a sun bed. We used hotels shuttle service down to Taormina which we booked at reception. The food in la caverna was excellent and we were always welcomed. All staff were excellent, really helpful and always courteous and respectful. Thank you to all at Villa Sonia for an unforgettable holiday

We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights earlier this month and absolutely loved it. We are fortunate enough to travel regularly and often to large, five star hotel chains across Europe however, that may be a thing of the past for us after a visit to Villa Sonia! Sure, the hotel is a bit dated in places however, our room (306) was spacious, comfortable, cool in the heat of the the day, everything worked perfectly and as an added bonus, the view of Etna from the large terrace was incredible. The loungers around the pool could probably do with a bit of an upgrade but we never had any issues in finding one, the pool itself was clean and very refreshing in the heat of the day and there was a good selection or reasonably priced drinks and snacks/light meals for lunch. We ate at the hotel restaurant one of the evenings and thoroughly enjoyed the food and received some excellent wine recommendations. We would happily have eaten there again but wanted to try the local restaurants in the village, all of which are within 10 minutes walk of the hotel. As it turns out, the menus pretty much everywhere are very similar both in terms of offerings and pricing, but we enjoyed the different settings and found the prices across the board for food and wine to be good value for money. The free hotel shuttle bus to Taormina is an excellent service and we used this several times during our stay. In addition to the stunning location and quirky nature of the hotel, the other stand out for us was the hotel staff, particularly at reception. Always happy to chat or provide advice on the local area and one member of the team, Francisco (we think!) helped us book a fantastic trip to Mt Etna. Overall, we adored Castelmola as a place and our holiday there was made all the more enjoyable for our stay at Villa Sonia. Would not hesitate to recommend or return.
