What a fabulous place, with a lovely welcome. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed with crisp, clean linen. Immaculate bathroom with fluffy white towels. And an amazing breakfast, with bacon cooked perfectly, and all piping hot. Bar reasonably priced. Such amazing value for money and I cannot recommend highly enough. I even had a call when I was en route as they were concerned for my safety as I was running very late. I will be back!

Such a great place to stay. Clean comfortable room in what was the former stables, situated just below the pub. I added breakfast to my stay and highly recommend that you do, freshly cooked and sets you up for the day. The welcome and hospitality of the Oak Tree is second to none. It’s a community focused pub and this is certainly reflected by how it’s supported by the locals, who welcome you and offer knowledge of the area and its attractions. Big thanks to Sue and all the staff for a great midweek 3 night stay.

What a fabulous little find this was, no negatives what so ever! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating as we were a last minute booking. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of Tea/Coffee facilities and the breakfast was lovely. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend. Just a shame there aren't more rooms.

This was our umpteenth time here. We love it. The staff are fantastic and go beyond to help. Husband loves the breakfasts. Handy for Beamish Museum, Tanfield Railway and lots of other sights. Sad to find the Friday night quiz is no longer on and is replaced by music so loud that you can't hold a conversation with the person next you but maybe we are just too old. Will be back again as soon as possible.

As others here have said, nice room, good full English breakfast, lovely landlady and friendly locals. Just a few minutes drive from Beamish, which is the reason we visited.

Best stay in Stanley.
Stayed here for one night. The hotel staff were super warm and welcoming. Loved the hotel room. Had all the basic amenities like toiletries and heating. English breakfast that they provide was excellent and delicious! Highly recommended!

Very nearly 10/10
Very clean room, lovely well kept pub run by excellent staff. If I could offer any advice to the owners it would be; a shelf in the shower for bottles, and make it perfectly clear that evening meals are not available. It's a bit ambiguous in the property description. Other than that, all good. The breakfast is fantastic, and excellent value.
