What can I say... We chose what is called a "hotel" to spend our last week in Penang-Georgetown and as it turned out, the interior played a role, yes, it is very beautiful and resembles the interior from the time of Catherine the Great, but that's basically it. Upon check-in, a deposit of 100 Rm is charged, which was never returned, but more on that later. We were settled on the 1st floor almost at the beginning of the corridor. Yes, the room is visually gorgeous. At first we couldn't take our eyes off it, we immediately started taking pictures of everything. You don't see this often... The very next day, we already moved out of this room because of the very loud sound coming from the toilet when you press the flush button. This sound is very annoying, after a couple of minutes it dies down and then the sound gets louder again, but only for a longer time and resembles the Doppler effect, which works a little in the other direction, and even more so if you drank green tea before going to bed and decided to go to the toilet at night. In principle, that's why we had to change the room the next day. At night you will only wake up from such noise. Yes, we were offered to change the room on the second floor and there were two options to choose from. The first: with a view of the main road in Georgetown. The second: in the middle of the corridor. Of course, we chose the one in the middle, and not with a view of the main road, because the main problem in hotels is soundproofing, because it is very expensive and most often these are ordinary walls where you can even sometimes hear someone fart or sneeze behind your wall, also considering that in Malaysia ground transport is very developed, that there are no normal crossings for pedestrians on the roads and the noise from the main road resembles a Formula 1 race that takes place right under your windows. Naturally, we refused this option. Well, we dragged our suitcases to the second floor and noticed that this room didn't have everything in common with the previous room, namely: there was no hand soap near the sink (there is only one in the shower, so you will wash your hands right in the shower. Yes, you heard right. I don't understand why it was impossible, for example, to move this hand soap dish from another room. Especially since it can be easily unscrewed and it is not the summer season when there is a full house for tourists and all the rooms are full. In general, they simply shook their heads at this question and that's it), there was also no second chair and the interior was a little different. But we thought, okay, the main thing is that there was no annoying sound coming from the toilet. Everyone thought with peace of mind that now we will rest until the flight. Yeah, it was not so. On the very first night we realized that we wouldn't get much sleep because they have a laundry on the second floor and they do laundry 24/7 and it's very audible and a couple of days later there was a heavy downpour late in the evening and our roof started leaking, by the way the hotel has only two floors). And in Malaysia, as in fact throughout Asia, the rainy season begins from the beginning of autumn to the end of winter. In principle, the building not only looks beautiful from the outside, but it's also not like it could have such problems. AS SOON as we reported that the roof was leaking, the Chinese manager immediately came running in a panic, hung around, discussed something with the handsome cleaner who was probably already getting ready to sleep and left for about 10 minutes. Then the Chinese man came running again with a towel, which was supposed to fix the leak from the ceiling. In general, they put all this beauty on the windowsill, smiled sweetly at us and left again. And a little later at night everything started pouring out almost like a stream and we were offered to change the room for the third time and we answered: no, thank you. We are so tired that we don’t want to move anywhere again.
