The staff is exceptionally kind and attentive. The lodge provides great facilities and clean, spacious rooms with stunning jungle views. No bugs and ample amenities contribute to an excellent rainforest experience.

I did not get on with this hotel at night. Unfortunately the rooms are basically a dormitory, with partitioned sides. The ceiling is netted with tiles on top, but the way it works is every sound is passed along the 8 rooms in the block, so if people are continually coughing, snoring etc then you hear it. Next door told his family he would be back later, and would not wake them up, he woke us up. Someone always has a 4 am start, so we all get the wake up alarm. After 3 nights with very little sleep I was glad to leave. Food, staff and activities were all good.

Overall fabulous experience with much care given to providing a rare opportunity to live in, and experience the rain forest of the Amazon. Food was amazing; fresh, local and beautifully prepared in a buffet style. Beautiful open air rooms with bug netting and very nice quality linens and towels. We did A LOT in the 2 days/3 nights we were there. Walks in both day and evening to search for wild life and insect examples. Good educational talks available by professional and dedicated biologists. Our guide, Paul, was VERY knowledgeable and had been guiding for Rainforest Expeditions for 20 years. We learned so much about species, local farming, and the strong effort by this company to protect this important area ecologically.

we had the best time with Juan Carlos Yatto at the refugio amazonas lodge. he spoke perfect english and him and our group got on well and shared jokes the whole time. he was one of the most knowledgable guides we have ever had, and we have had so many. he was amazing at spotting wildlife and birds by look or sound, and if you were interested in something particular he would help you find it and learn more. he was so friendly and we never hesitated to ask for anything. the lodge was lovely and the food was so amazing (proof in the waistline after leaving…) the lodge biologist was so lovely and informative also, and helped us set up a camera. it was a really special experience

Such a fabulous place to stay! It’s a bit further along the river than some of the other lodges and the surrounding jungle is beautiful! We happened to visit in a cold spot (I never knew that happened!) and the fact that hot water bottles were put in our bed to warm it up while we were having dinner was just such a wonderful touch!! The choice of activities is just great and our guide was brilliant, very informative and she went out of her way to seek out wildlife. The biologist talks after dinner (the food was delicious) were not something we’ve done before but so interesting! All the staff were just lovely and the manager just fabulous, (even hooking up a communal monitor so we and all those who wanted to could watch the Euros one night!) I would so recommend staying here!

Stayed for three nights in a deluxe suite. Was with two kids 14yo. The rooms are nice. Staff is friendly. Good tour options. Food was great. Major improvements needed in having fans inside bed canopy. The ceiling fan does not have any impact inside the bed due to heavy screens. Three nights of terrible sleep. Hot and humid. Also , breakfast ending at 7:30am is strange. We are on vacation and don’t want to be up super early every day. Also should offer Al a crate breakfast options.

Juan Carlos Yatto is, hands down, the best guide I’ve ever had. His deep knowledge of the Amazon, incredible ability to spot wildlife, and genuine passion for the rainforest made this trip unforgettable. He wasn’t just informative—he was engaging, funny, and deeply respectful of the environment and local communities. Every day with Juan Carlos Yatto felt like a new adventure. He taught us so much about the ecosystem and culture, all while making sure everyone felt safe and included. His connections with the locals gave us access to experiences most tourists don’t get. If you're visiting the Amazon, ask for Juan Carlos Yatto. He turned a great trip into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This hotel is beautiful with large and comfortable rooms. What makes this hotel even better was my guide Juan Carlos Yetto. He was so very knowledgeable, funny and had the unique ability to make us all feel special. Whenever I tell stories of my Peru adventure he will always be mentioned. Thank you Juan Carlos!!!

Our stay at Refugio Amazonas was absolutely incredible. The lodge is beautiful and blends perfectly with the surrounding rainforest, offering a wide variety of activities that we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was excellent—breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The staff truly went above and beyond in every aspect. They were friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely at home. A special thank you to the team for their outstanding care when one of our friends came down with a high fever. They acted quickly and compassionately, providing medicine, calling a doctor, and even preparing special meals to support recovery. We were genuinely touched by their kindness and professionalism. This lodge is not only a gateway to the Amazon, but also a place where you’re treated with genuine care and hospitality. Highly recommended! Special thanks to Timo and Tanya!
