Pacific Kalokairi - Adults Only

Bugs, hair, and HORRENDOUS customer service To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here. We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things. In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than "exceptional" experience. 1) The "jungle view" room is of a dumpster. 2) There was hair on multiple pillows 3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on. 4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver. 5) The "free shuttle" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip. 6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back

Amazing property! Amazing experience! Our 4 night stay at Pacific Kalokairi was nothing short of exceptional! For the final leg of our Costa Rica trip we stayed at Pacific Kalokairi just outside of Tamarindo. The access road was pretty straightforward compared to other such roads in Costa Rica. The last 100m or so is a steep climb, but totally paved.. no big deal. The property is fully gated so when you arive, hit the buzzer and one of the staff will open the main gate. Parking is a breeze. The grounds here are immaculate. The pool area where breakfast is served is gorgeous. The Infinity pool over looks the town of Tamarindo and the ocean in the distance. The rooms .. wow ! Perfect size for a king suite. Each is its own villa with all of the luxury touches your expect from a high end spot. We booked an ocean view room so the balcony overlooks the pool and had amazing sunsets every night. The staff are really what makes Pacific Kalokairi special. Everyone really cares about the guest experience and treats you like a member of the family. Charlie the resident black lab is such a good boy too! We booked an excursion and a coue of massages through the property .. all seemless I've stayed at hundreds of differt hotels and propertys over the years and Pacific Kalokairi ranks up there will the best of the best. After 4 days we didn't want to leave! When we checked out we took a few extra minutes to say goodbye to everyone .. it just felt so much like home Thank you for an outstanding experiance! All positive Booked this place without knowing the geography of Tamarindo too well. Tamarindo in a busy little town, and I really enjoyed being a short distance from it at Kalokairi. It’s a short walk from town in the hills. The view of the coast is stunning. The rooms are beautiful, and the staff is extremely kind. Only good things to say for this experience.

Pacific Kalokairi is a magnificent sparkling gem of a hotel perched in the hills just outside of Tamarindo in the Guanacaste Region overlooking the ocean to the west and the jungle to the east. This was my first trip to Costa Rica and our anniversary celebration, we chose this hotel because in the photos online the architecture looked very elegant and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. We were not disappointed. The hotel is stunning, every inch is thoughtfully designed, open airy doors and windows, clean lines, attention to detail, beautiful woodwork, high quality sheets, spacious bed, double sinks, powerful shower heads, perfect balconies with comfortable furniture for morning coffee and evening sunset viewing and a fabulous infinity pool in the shape of a coffee bean for swims. The structures are beautiful but the heart of the hotel is really the tight knit family from Spain that owns and operates the property on a daily basis. Virginia the daughter is the concierge and has a wealth of hospitality experience from her time in Europe and Miami, her mother Maria prepares breakfast every morning for guests, her father Santi methodically cleans the pool EVERY morning at 6am. Carlos, originally from CR is the bartender/waiter, he was sweet and fun and made us feel welcome everyday. Danny the chef from Bilbao prepared Michelin star quality dishes every night. The Pacific Kalokairi team has a perfect combination of professionalism and warmth. I highly recommend Pacific Kalokairi. A bit more about how wonderful Viginia is........ Initially our flight was postposed due to tropical storm Sara, I called Virginia on WhatsApp and she was very open and flexible, she immediately let us cancel and reschedule the trip for 5 days later when the airport in Liberia reopened after the storm had passed. When we arrived Virginia continued to offer advice that hit the mark with us every time. She has excellent taste and insight into local places of interest, we particularly enjoyed her recommendations for La Leona Waterfall, Poza Los Coyotes and Playa Minas. I want to keep this place a secret to myself. I don’t normally write reviews. But this place is so magical that I have to. I was immediately messaged after I booked the hotel. They arranged transportation for me from the airport. It is my first time to Costa Rica. And I travelled solo. I have never felt so safe. The minute you walk into the property, you are well taken care of. I could literally turn off my mind, and let them take care of things for me. They helped me books a surf lesson. The instructor was excellent ! I stood up on the board ! The food is out of this world. I tried the tapas tasting menu. I loved it so much that it’s like I am in Spain. (The chef is from Spain!). They helped me booked yoga classes. The studio is 2 min walk from the hotel. They arranged their own shuttle services for their guests to town. So I did not have to worry about transportation when I was there. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful. They can predict what you need and take care of it for you before you even ask. This is a paradise. Don’t even have to think and just book it. I will surely come back !
