I’ll try and be as honest and fair as possible in this review. The truth is, overall I was disappointed. The photos on their website and the 5-star rating meant I thought I was booking a luxury stay at the end of our time in Sri Lanka, however that wasn’t the case. A few key things to highlight: - I was messages on the same day of arrival telling me that the bar and restaurant would be out of use, as they didn’t get their license approved. This may seem small but one of the reasons I book hotels over Airbnb type things is for the hotel vibe, of which these common areas play a big part. Instead we had an empty restaurant area with a closed sign to stare at. - The hotel itself needs a complete renovation IMO. It’s tired, dated and requires maintenance. It looks great in the photos but in reality it’s very tired. There were some good points though: - the young chap on reception and the main go-to was super friendly and accommodating (like every Sri Lankan I’ve met) - the pool area and beachfront is beautiful - the location is great. Just a short walk or tuk tuk away is Turtle Bay, which is incredible. A little further but not far is Unawatuna beach and Galle Fort, both worth visiting. Overall not a terrible experience but a disappointing one based on expectations set via their website.

The other reviews are correct - this is not a luxury hotel by any means, but what it lacks in luxury, it more than makes up for in character. It is beautifully appointed, very quiet and the beds are very comfy. The grounds are beautiful and the pool, while much smaller than it looks in photo's, was really nice. The service was amazing, however it took forever for the barman to make drinks. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed when we stayed. As the hotel is about a 1-2 minute walk down a dark lane way, and there are no restaurants near-by, this meant a good 15 minute walk in the dark, down the alley then along a very busy main road with no footpaths and lots of holes. While we absolutely loved the hotel and the staff, we would not stay here again purely due to the location.

This hotel is unbelievably relaxing. The location is basically unbeatable, you can see and hear the ocean in every corner of the property. the staff are so sweet and friendly and go out of their way to help. we were traveling with a small baby and it made our trip so much more comfortable to have the entire staff smiling and playing with her when she was around. the rooms are huge and i cant think of any other hotel i've ever been to which has such cool, unique style. truly it's a hotel unlike any other! PS make sure you get a massage with their incredible therapist!!!!

What a unfortunate stay. I booked a suite for 2 nights but could only stay for one. It was non refundable, which was fine, the mistake was mine. I never asked for a refund of any type. Despite informing the hotel of my new arrival date (and paying for two nights), they were not prepared for my stay and said so. My room air conditioner didn’t work all night (which is a big deal in Sri Lanka). There was no available coffee until the kitchen opened at 7:30 (despite their website stating a coffee machine). No room service. I called about these issues but was told no one was available to help me. The worst is the GM blames others for the lack of care and response. Hiccups happen, I don’t mind, but a GM who displaced blame sours everything for travelers and staff alike. Nearly 1k spent for my 17 hour stay, which could have been a bargain if they were just kind and responsive.

В феврале побывали в этом замечательном месте и остались в восторге. Отель-5+, обслуживание-5+, а отношение людей к нам-100+ Прекрасные номера, чистота и в номерах и на территории, прекрасный вид на океан. Отдельную благодарность хочется выразить управляющему Нихалу(могу ошибиться в имени). Чуткий, душевный, отзывчивый и клиентоориентированный работник. Идеальный отель для людей, которые любят уединение с природой, комфорт и релакс. Ну а тем кто любит движ-рядом Унаватуна) Рядом в пешей доступности маленький и уютный пляж, а в паре километров находится уже можно сказать "русская деревня" Унаватуна. В общем уезжать не хотелось, но тем радостнее будет наш следующий приезд в этот замечательный отель. Обязательно буду рекомендовать всем нашим друзьям! බොහොම ස්තුතියි

The manager was very friendly and helpful . He guided us on which beach wd be worth exploring and how one cd reach there in a tuk tuk. The people are friendly and the tuk tuk drivers are willing to drop and pick you up after a few hours too for a pre negotiated fee . The rooms are bright and spacious . And you get beach robes , mat and towels to carry . It’s a boutique hotel , with stair cases . The pool looks good but is a bit shallow . The morning breakfast is literally by the sea and feels wonderful. The bar man goes all out to make cocktails of your choice . At breakfast , it’s a bit disappointing when they tell you that the items you order are not available that day . When we spoke to the manager he said that he would have organised it for us had he known . So next morning they again said no Nonveg was available and the cereal too ! So we insisted that we wanted both and they finally gave it ! The food is good and the general ambiance is great .

Beautiful location with rooms looking out over the ocean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bar staff very obliging in providing unique cocktails. Food to a very high standard, breakfast and evening meals. The rooms have a unique decor which together with the owl and pussycat themed make this resort hotel a very pleasurable experience. A short trip down the busy road takes you into the heart of historic Galle.

The best holiday! Thank you for organization of our rest. Sri-Lanka and Owl and the Pussycat are our new love! These emotions are priceless, new memories will help to survive our cold winter. The hotel has a very good location, there is a very good and clean beach within 50 metres. Well-desinged suits, cleanleness, perfect service, well-behaved stuff. Only downside, there is not enough variety of breakefasts. All in all, it is a perfect hotel for spending your holiday!

We had a wonderful time at this hotel, the accommodation was clean, the staff really friendly, amazing breakfast with amazing views of the sea. Nice Gym too. The hotel is a little bit away from anything, but the concierge easily helped us get a TukTuk that took us locally for minimal cost. We would definitely go back.
