At first glance this Marriott property looks like it has what it takes to fill all the squares for a top shelf experience. The location is great. Surrounded by hip restaurants and watering holes, some repurposed from old water works plants, it was definitely a recipe for a fun time. Not my cup of tea but they even had Shakespeare in the park. Bonus points for the amazing Amicus Brewery across the street. Yum! The supporting cast off property did not disappoint. However, the hotel itself was just okay. Sure it looked modern and the rooms were fine but the devil is in the details. For a property that markets itself as among the best, I was a little disappointed in the amenities and staff. No concierge lounge. I’ve stayed at Marriott properties with an M Club that charged as much. Further….the menu was pretty sparse at the on site restaurant. The staff seemed indifferent and more interested in whatever was happening on their phones than representing the brand and taking care of the guests. Overall, the experience was fine. It got the job done but folks, a little effort and some tweaks to the amenities could have made it much better.
