Hotel Duval, Autograph Collection

At checkin, asked for a room away from the elevator (which is on my Marriott profile) and was told that it was about halfway down the hall. The room was, in fact, directly next to the elevator. “Valet” did not assist with unloading 2 large rolling suitcases on either checkout or checkin. At checkout, 2 young valet attendants stood by, looking on as we loaded the bags ourselves, and did not offer to help. Requested a 1 hour extended checkout but was denied by front desk (named RJ) even though the hotel was confirmed to be not near capacity by other staff. This is supposedly the “nicest” hotel in Tallahassee, but if you are a frequent traveler please manage your expectations. This is far from a luxury property in design or service. We were in town for a FSU college tour and spotted the Hotel Indigo and the Embassy Suites which looked like much better options.

I have stayed in Duval multiple time on my business trips. The staff in extremely friendly and courteous. The location is great close to many key areas. The food at Chulas and the roof top bar is fantastic. They have brewed coffee round the clock which is a great perk for crazy coffee drinkers like me. The breakfast options are also good catering to everyone. I had a plumbing issue with the sink and it was immediately taken care of. The rooms are nice and clean with not much noise from the from the neighboring rooms. They do a great job of changing linen.

Took a 3 year break and decided to give this hotel another try after an unfortunate incident of finding urine stained bed padding and blood on the comforter in 2021. Prior to this past July, my other stays there were good. This stay had some minor issues like, the gym was closed for renovations according to the desk clerk. My room was not cleaned one of the days. I had to ask for towels on multiple occasions. Parking is $36 per day with no self parking. This is a small hotel. The parking attendants text you reminders about giving a tip multiple times per day. The hotel is not fancy. The room is mediocre at its best. The bathroom is literally in the room separated by glass doors. A wall unit air conditioning unit and a brown painted shower, no bathtub. We are lifetime titanium Marriott members, and was told by the assistant general manager that because we complained about the incident in 2021, (even provided them pics), that we should consider staying at another Marriott property. This posture was not what we would expect from Marriott. There are not very many hotels as Tallahassee is a small college town. Shame on the Duval for portraying themselves to be a four star hotel. Customer service training is needed immediately!!! The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast!

John and I spent our 30th wedding anniversary at Hotel Duval. Once I arrived the lobby entrance was a beautiful site. I was handed my room card and went to the emerald suite and was surprised to see the room was decorated and set up for us. Nicholas the housekeeper did a great job with the cleaning of the room and Cory Hilton and Sabrina owens went beyond to make sure our evening was great. We had dinner from Shulas waiting on us. But my husband had to fly in so I called for a microwave and a young man by the name of Justin ran it straight up with no problems and asked if there was anything else he could do. The staff was wonderful and the Hotel itself is beautiful and very clean thank you to everyone. We will be back.

The staff at the Hotel Duvall goes far and beyond any expectations. I travel to Tallahassee frequently and always return to the Duvall they make you feel like family. The staff from housekeeping to the check-in process are very engaging. The rooms always clean and well kept

Staff everywhere was phenomenal. No matter who we spoke to we were always very well taken care of.
