Meandering Moose Lodge was one of our favorite stops on our Alaskan driving adventure. Just outside of Talkeetna, it offered everything we needed to feel at home. Our Uppity Moose room was spacious with a great bathroom and even a washer and dryer—perfect for getting ready for the second half of our trip. The shared kitchen downstairs had a coffee maker and fridge, which we seemed to have all to ourselves. It’s not rustic, but it feels genuinely Alaskan in the best way. We also loved relaxing on the sunny deck, a perfect spot to unwind after exploring. Owners Stacy and Peter have created a peaceful, welcoming retreat that feels worlds away from the busy commercial scene in town. So glad we stayed here instead!

A Marvelous Moose!
We weren't quite sure what to expect as we traveled the dirt road away from the main town but wow, what a great place! Our room was HUGE and we had the lobby and kitchen below us to use as well. So quiet at night too. And just a quick drive into town. We all gave it big thumbs up!

A Great Value
We stayed in the main lodge which featured a spacious, well-appointed, homey common area. Our room was terrific with super comfortable bed and private deck. Stacy, our host, was generous and accommodating. Wish we had all ten nights in Alaska here instead of just one on the way to Denali.

Make sure you know what you are booking. This property is way off the beaten path down a dirt road with no cell service. They have a small lodge and a few cabins. Every room is different. Our cabin ended up being dry, which I did not realize when booking. We had a private bathroom, but it was in a different building. The cabin was nice, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was inconvenient and could have been cleaner. The owners were very pleasant.

The Meandering Mouse was awesome if you are looking for a cabin out of town. The owners are great, friendly people and their dogs super fun. The property sits about 1.5 from Talkeetna which allows you Alaska space but still close to town. The cabin was clean, and comfortable. Outdated. If they advertise a stove then need to replace the stove. Refrigerator big and new. Definitely bring food and ICE. If wanting a great cabin. Remote and relax and enjoy the Moose is the Place. I would definitely go back. Good use some updates. However. Some of the adventure is the rustic. Great place.

We stayed in the main lodge and had plenty of space for our family of 4 and a lot more privacy than in the larger hotels. The room was comfortable and the host very friendly.

We loved this place and our room was great. It had dark curtains, which was so convenient for sleeping when the sun rises so early in the summer. Our room in the lodge was a sliding door away from the very nice shared kitchen with two big refrigerators for storing guest’s food. Very well equipped. We also received some great help from Stacey, the owner/ manager.
