Motu Beachfront Art Villas

I can't believe how lucky we were to find this cute little resort. We arrived late at night and when we woke in the morning I thought I was in heaven! We had a beachfront villa that was extremely private with an incredible view of the lagoon. The villa was equipped with complimentary, delicious New Zealand wine and Heineken. They also provided us with milk, eggs, bread and fresh fruit so that we had something for breakfast that morning. The villas were spotlessly cleaned and newly refurbished to perfection! We would go back in a heartbeat!

Motu was recommended to me by a travel agent and I’m so glad we chose it for a special holiday. First time in the Cook Islands, this was the ultimate adults only luxury beachfront accommodation. Self-contained villas are well equipped with full size fridge, microwave, and stove top, a Nespresso machine and a welcome pack of groceries to get you started. There is a reasonable grocery store right across the road that is open until 10 pm daily. The air conditioned villa itself is tastefully decorated with a large bedroom and huge bathroom. Out front is your own personal deck with a table/chairs and sun loungers. Staff were discreet but attentive throughout and nothing was too much trouble. Kayaks, SUPs and snorkelling gear are available for guest use. If you tire of the pristine beach and turquoise ocean right out the front (with excellent snorkelling) then there is a resort pool. Need a drink? There’s an honesty bar that won’t break the bank. Although there’s no resort restaurant there are walkable dining options and the staff are happy to make recommendations and bookings. We wandered up the beach to Charlie’s and Little Polynesia. Electric bikes are available for guests but we had a small rental car which was great for exploring. I really hope we get the opportunity to return!

We have been to Rarotonga a few times and Motu is definitely a great choice. The villas are well equipped, clean and best of all, absolute beachfront. With only 10 villas, it is quiet, calm and private. Claire and Amy set the standard very high and the service from all staff is excellent - every one was responsive and willing to met our every need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Motu!

Motu Art Villas is a very special place, quiet with the most beautiful beach in the world literally on your doorstep. The staff are so friendly and helpful- a special shoutout for Mi’i who has been here,apparently, for 21 years! We love the privacy of the self-contained villas each with their own kitchen and lounge area, as well as beautiful bedroom and bathroom. While there is no restaurant, it is very handy to the Little Polynesian if you want fancy, or Charlie’s if you want very simple and down-to-earth. And Moana Sands next door is another option. But several we end up making our own meals and eating on our deck under the sun umbrella, because we just did not want to leave!

We loved everything at Motu. It was small and intimate. Adults only. Very private. Immaculately clean villas and the whole property. Wonderful hospitality, with thoughtful surprise extras. Great locality to shopping and nearby restaurants. Fabulous, friendly, helpful staff.
