It is a hotel where you can experience traditional style of Japanese room and shared onsen. The hotel was clean, both in the room and shared spaces. Amenities provided were sufficient. It is very close to the Hida village (open-aired museum) which is very nice, though a bit far from the city center where located other attractions. So, it is more recommended for those travelers who have a car to drive around.
The breakfasts came in traditional hida style set (i guess), and were delicious, especially the hoba miso.
The staff are nice and friendly too! Love it!

It's far from the station, and the old streets, Takayama's main tourist attraction, are even further away.
However, it sticks to the basics of a ryokan and the meals are excellent.
In particular, the person who served dinner was very friendly.

I was confused with the Oyado Yamakyu Hotel and went the wrong way, but it was kind, clean and ok!! However, it is far from downtown Takayama, so it is inconvenient to use a taxi!
