My wife and I were only here for a night but we’re thoroughly impressed with our stay at Shady Rest. Mark and his team were welcoming, and our suite was large, clean, and comfortable. The rest of the house has a great vintage vibe as well. It was great getting to know Mark, and chatting with a local about the area. He had some great recommendations for things that we initially overlooked in the area, not to mention a fabulous cook for breakfast :) Would highly recommend the Shady Rest to anyone in the Takaka area. You won’t regret it! Cheers!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Mohua Motel. The owners are so friendly and helpful and we enjoyed their generous hospitality very much. The apartment was completely clean and ranks on absolute top level according to European standards. Same applies to the overall cleanliness of the whole complex. The beds are very comfortable and it is quite convenient that the next supermarket is within a minute walking distance. If you want to have a pleasant stay at Takaka look no further.
