Lovely clean, quiet, comfortable motel. Friendly reception from owner. Everything we needed was provided including toiletries. Great location so near the supermarket and cafes. Just loved the relaxing, rural outlook with view of the hills. Would definitely recommend Mohua Motels for your stay in Takaka.

This visit was my first time to Takaka, and I was pleased to stay at the Mohua Motel. Everything appeared new and clean, and the view over the paddock toward the hills was relaxing. I stepped outside to find a pair of cows quietly grazing over the fence, barely two metres from my balcony. The rooms were an adequate size with a good bathroom and shower. The heat pump was very effective at cooling and heating. The "Roots Bar" is popular with the locals and is only a three-minute walk from Mohua Motel. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Mohua is excellent value, and I recommend it to all travellers.

I am in a wheelchair so required an accessible room. The room we had was very clean, easy to manoeuvre around with great access to the kitchen area, excellent accessible bathroom with wet floor fold down shower seat, bars in the shower, and around the toilet area. Enough room to allow for assistance in showering if required. Staff were incredibly helpful nothing was an issue.

I stayed in the beautiful spa suite as all the studio rooms were booked out which the owner kindly gave to me for a discounted price. The bed was so comfortable, the balcony faced the mountains beside rural fields and the service was outstanding. I fully recommend treating yourself to the luxury of staying at this super clean and comfortable place.
