The White Hart, Wroughton

We went there for a meal. Our previous visits had been okay, but this times the menu had changed. Poor choice of food, so we ordered the beefburger. This consisted of two halves of a burnt roll, which held a burger, a piece of lettuce and a thin swipe of onion jam, held together with a plastic skewer, served on a block of wood. With some chips in a small bowI. I had to ask for a proper plate as it was impossible to deal with this food on a block of wood. ( A great item for billions of bacteria to multiply unless scrubbed clean after every use ) ! Very poor choice of food on the menu, certainly disappointing since we dined there last time. At least the stupid car registration has stopped. We had a difficult job cancelling the fine we were sent after a previous visit. I would add that the service was acceptable and friendly. But wouldn't eat there again unless some proper meals were on offer.

We hadn't been since the place had changed hands, the Roast dinners were previously superb! Currently they sell two choices for a Sunday dinner, small and large. We had a variety of different options across the table. I ordered a small beef, my partner ordered a large. The plates were the same size once they arrived, as well as the amount of items on the plate. I questioned what the difference was between the two, being told the large has extra meat, two extra slices to be exact ( £8 for two slices of beef) Because my partner clearly got a small one, the waitress returned with two slices of beef..... plate was already empty, took about five bites.

White Hart overnight stay This was a bank holiday one night stay. We stayed in Room 2 (ground floor) which was nicely decorated and clean. There were bifold doors instead of a window which would have been great had there been a nice view instead of the concrete block wall which was higher than the room and only 2 feet away. We had to request a remote control for the TV and milk for a cup of coffee as these were not already in the room. I had a poor night's sleep as the bed was, in my opinion, extremely hard. Our evening meal was okay at best. We went for breakfast at 8.30 but there were no staff to be found. Eventually somebody turned up and took our order. Again the food was just okay. Unfortunately we will not be staying here again.

Check if they do food before you book.......! This is a great little place to stay on your travels, but please call them to check if they do food before you book. Unfortunately, I checked in, asked to book a table and was told they don't do food on certain nights of the week. It would have been nice if they had let me know. They recommended the pub across the road for food, but i didn't fancy walking around a place i didn't know on my own. The rooms are great though. Definitely worth a look.

Very good. But could do with some extra cleaning A very enjoyable stay. Plenty of free parking. Staff helpful and friendly. Food very good. The only downside was the overall cleanliness of our room (number 10) plenty of cobwebs in the bedroom (Should take less than 5 minutes to remove them) The bathroom could do with more time spent on it. We found the previous occupants hair in the bath. Around the taps could do with a good clean and maybe a new clean toilet seat. Little things that make a massive difference. With a little extra cleaning you would have 5*****

Delightful Country Pub Delightful thatched country pub with modern rooms to the rear. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good and a varied menu provided a good choice of faire. Room was a good size and comfortable.
