Mena Palace Hotel - All Inclusive

So the hotel is nice enough, staff friendly and helpful, generally clean and the food and drinks aren't bad considering it's all inclusive but there is no way this is a 4 star hotel, it's aged and dated.... good points are the staff, drinks and convenient location, the rooms are OK but ours (202) had mould in the shower, cracked tiles, leaking shower screen and the ac is nothing but a fan with no cooling effect. But by far the biggest issue is the lack of shared space, there are by far not enough sunbeds, (roughly 100 for a hotel with maybe 400 rooms? ) same goes for seating at meal times just not enough seats especially when kids sit alone on a table to avoid sitting with their parents. Hotel is ok as a base but needs some investment and the cook needs to eeason the food.

We arrived at the hotel 1pm Monday 9th June and fortunately our room was ready, however the receptionist would nor give us the all inclusive band until after the end of lunch. I explained that considering we were checking out the following Monday at 9.30 am we would be gaining nothing, she still would not give us the all inclusive band. It turned out they did us a favour not allowing us to have lunch. The food was disgusting and there was a mad rush when the dinning room opened for evening meal. the choice of food was presented in a big serving tray piled high with meat or fish and for desert was a choice of half a banana and a rock hard pear. The inside of the hotel smelt strongly of foist probably as a result of dirty carpets in the corridors and the bedroom, the smell was unbearable. On top of everything else there was school trip of Bulgarian youngsters who just ran around the dining room and pool area seemingly unsupervised. We made a decision to leave the hotel on Tuesday 10th June and book into a TUI hotel, we were asked at reception why we were checking out early but didn't want any fuss or arguments so just said we were meeting friends else where. The additional cost was irrelevant and we are not looking for refunds as we left the hotel without contacting On The Beach but it was a holiday we had waited for all year. Please do not book this hotel

hotel ok clean food ok we got one towel in the room for 3 people every day 80% of the staff in the hotel does not speak English only Ukrainian and Russian “ladies “even girls animators learned to dance 3 songs and it was the same over and over again. and they only looked at the boys zero interest in children (2-6 years old) unfortunately there were no games and children. the kitchen manager / service menager was very rude and also had no communication in English. :/

Booked an apartment for extra space (& cost) Dated was not the word. Lumpy beds, 2 singles pushed together. Daughter had a sofa bed, crackerbread thin. Aircon rubbish. Furniture falling to bits, plug sockets that didn't work. Didn't sleep a wink until we finally got moved to another apartment. This one was slightly better although the toilet was cracked & leaking water from behind. By this point I was sick of complaining & could not wait to leave the hell hole. Food was not for British tastes. Only attempted to eat there one morning & the food was cold, inedible & disgusting. Evening was pretty much the same so we didn't attempt again. We ate out every meal time. Pool was ok, sunbeds lacking. Towels out before 7am by other guests. Lifeguard lovely & would move them for you if she saw you looking for a sunbed. Ice cream & doughnuts at 15.30 good but other than that a hard pass! Paid over £2000 for 2 adults & 1 child for a week. Total waste of money. Avoid at all cost!

Lovely hotel and the rooms were ok, clean we have a maid daily, woke staff were friendly while others were quite rude, I was at the bar waiting for a drink for ages to be served as was only 1 bar lady there, apparently it’s the owners daughter, anyway she seen me waiting for around 10 mins and then a lady come up holding a baby behind me, she said something in they’re language and laughed and said to me I will serve her first as she is holding a baby! (I understand she was holding a baby around 2 months but there were loads of seats around and she weren’t exactly struggling) I found this really rude, the other bar staff were amazing but this 1 in particular was always rude and made me not want to go to the bar as she was funny on a few occasions, the hotel food was lovely and the pool was fab, we will be returning to sunny beach but unfortunately not this hotel again
