I stayed at the Stuart Motor Lodge (203 SW 7th St., Stuart, IA 50250) in room #3 on the one night of Sunday, 31 July 2022. The single-story, L-shaped motel is two blocks off I-80, near two gas/convenience stores and fast food (McDonald's & Subway). The nice lobby features free morning coffee, and guests park directly in front of their room. The spacious parking lot had room for truckers. I had a reservation by phone (with e-mailed confirmation) for $71.50; however, the nice young desk clerk printed out a bill for $88. I got this reduced to $77 and was too tired to argue further. The overcharge was $5.50. My room's key card was electronic with no insertion. The spotlessly clean, spacious King room had a desk + lamp, 2 chairs, a wall lamp, nightstand, alarm clock, mini fridge/freezer, flat-screen TV, long 2-drawer dresser, mirror, and clothing rack + hangers. The bathroom sink was separate from the shower & toilet. The air conditioner was in the back of the room so it wouldn't blow on the bed; its constant fan enabled blocking any outside noise (road noise was minimal to none regardless). The spotlessly clean bathroom had 2 small soaps, a small shampoo, a 1500-watt hair-dryer, and Boardwalk toilet paper (yes!). I saw no tissue box. Water pressure in all fixtures was very strong, and the faucet/bath fixtures looked new. The shower rod was curved and the shower head was very high up. The bath linens were spotless but almost inadequately thin. When I asked, the desk clerk recommended a couple of non-chain restaurants in town, one of which I went to. The bed was nicely firm, and I slept like a rock. The positives of this motel were drive-up access, cleanliness, price (despite overcharge), and strong water pressure. My suggestions to management are to provide a tissue box, a fold-out suitcase rack, higher-quality bath linens, and a shelf or small table on which guests can spread out personal toiletries. I would appreciate a refund of the overcharge. When rating a place, my question is, "Could I stay here happily for a week?" For this motel, the answer is, "Probably not a week, but for longer than one night," for reasons mentioned. I recommend that you consider the Stuart Motor Lodge if you're in the area.
