We had a lovely stay at The Royal Hotel in Stromness. The room was very comfortable and the staff were just lovely. The breakfasts we had were amazing! We would recommend The Royal Hotel to anybody planning a visit to Stromness. The location of the hotel is well suited for travelling around mainland Orkney with a good bus service to Kirkwall also. Stromness is close to ma attractions around the mainland.

We had to wait a while to check in, the only member of staff on duty was also serving in the bar. In fact there was never anyone on the reception desk. However, our room was very nice, clean and comfortable. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and staff were welcoming. The restaurant was not open, instead we used the excellent Chinese takeaway just two doors from the hotel.

We stated in a twin room here . The establishment is dated , although the room , towels & linen were good . Excellent breakfast incl porridge & wide selection . Staff friendly . Adjoining bar was enjoyable, especially the trad music -one night . Great location for Bus& Boat trips .

Lovely comfortable room, great breakfasts, just a short walk from ferry and bus terminal. I was always too late booking the Ferry Inn for an evening meal, but there is a big Co-op just along the road where you can get salads and sandwiches. I would definitely stay here again.
