Clocktower Inn

It was an absolutely horrible experience. There was no breakfast, the frig was turned off and it had spoiled milk, yogurt, and a few slices of white bread, and warm juice and warm water, in hot summer. We had to buy our breakfast outside the building. There was no reliable hot water, none to wash your face at night, and in the morning, there was 1 min of hot water, with shampoo in your hair, it went back to cold water and no hot water. It was in a state of disrepair, broken switch to light fixture, plate in floor of shower unattached and moved around as stood in shower, overall a very bad experience. There was no one to contact about anything, other than the bar restaurant that was closed until 11 am on Sat., then closed at 9 pm on Sat. night and was closed all day Sunday. We sent an email to the owners, and they never even responded. Once they get your money, they could care less about their clients and their experience. I do NOT RECOMMEND this place at all, stay away if you can, there is a much better option where our family stayed in Strathroy.

Great unique building. We stayed on top floor which had a large bedroom, sitting area and large bathroom and shower. Just outside the door was a well outfitted kitchen with free access to coffee and light breakfast. If stairs are a problem for you book lower down.

Bed was too hard.

This place has history. We enjoyed our stay here coming from the USA for a funeral. It was an excellent place for "home-base" for a couple of days. We ate at the Inn for dinners and there was a kitchenette for very basic breakfasts. The hot water supply was temperamental. Enjoyed the downtown location and we had no problem parking for free. We enjoy supporting local businesses and off-the-beaten path places. This was a great stay.

Steps up the Tower. The hike up 58 stairs to our room on the 3rd floor, although not unpleasant, was a bit of a challenge for us 80 year olds with suitcases. Perhaps the summary of the Clock Tower Inn on the web should include this.

We stayed in the King Edward suite. Clean. Well decorated. Vault shower was a classic. Unfortunately, as the note explained it is an old building and you need to run all the water to get the warm water to the 1st floor. We had warm water for a few minutes then abruptly ice cold. We have been to other older historic buildings and never encountered this problem. Just good to know before you pack your toiletries. We also booked the dining room for dinner. We entered the pub which was a classic. The huge disappointment was the dining room. Absolutely nothing on the worn, peeling tables. Our salad pear & mandarin was delicious. But we were charged for a large when we ordered a small. Dinner was a huge disappointment. Medium rare steak was well done. The waitress didn't care & said "I guess I didn't hear you". My salmon was covered in pecans and extremely sweet. Not a hint of basalmic, but more of a brown sugar taste. The potatoes were lumpy & blah. Huge disappointment.
