This was a really special stop on our New England road trip. We met Evan on arrival and he showed us around the house and our room. There is so much history and things to see in this place. Our room was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The jacuzzi bath in the bedroom was a welcome extra we hadn't expected and we enjoyed the chocolates and sherry that was in our room. It is located a little to far out of town to walk for an evening meal, but only a few minutes by Uber. Last but not least was our 'Breakfast Adventure' as Evan called it. We had a lovely three course breakfast which Evan prepared and cooked for us. It really was a very pleasant stay and we would love to return one day.

A truly unique & rare experience; with some nice twists (amazing breakfasts & jacuzzi hot tub in room). It’s like time travel back in history, with modern additions. Evan is a remarkably hospitable host! Highly recommend, without any reservation 👍🏼

The House of 1833 exemplifies what makes a B&B special: a friendly host who cares deeply for his guests and his property, historical and beautiful decor, lovely gardens, and excellent food. It's close enough to "downtown" Mystic to be very convenient, but far enough that it is quiet and relaxing. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The lodging is comfortable and attractive. The grounds are lovely and have a lot to offer. The decorations are fascinating. The host is interesting, personable and very quirky. He is also very flexible and accommodating and helpful and knowledgeable. But what made our stay truly memorable was the incredibly high quality of the breakfast. The only downside is that you are a few miles from the restaurants and attractions of Mystic, so if convenience is your main concern, you may want to select one of the many options downtown. But this place is very quiet and peaceful and, as I said, very interesting. And it is a gorgeous, historical building and property.

While definitely a bit quirky, the inn is a treasure trove of objects and antiques. Evan is an amazing host and we thorough enjoyed our stay. We were only there for one night, but the pool is lovely and Evan even recommended a band to see after dinner which was fun. We had the most amazing breakfast the following morning, met some delightful people and you can tell he puts a lot of effort into the inn. So much more fun than your "regular" hotel room. Would definitely return!

Quand on arrive, c’est plutot charmant avec un accueil tres sympa … la maison est remplie d’antiquités des 4 coins du monde ce qui lui donne un cachet particulier. Mais petit a petit, on a comme un sentiment bizarre … trop de trucs partout, de la poussiere, une odeur bizarre, des pieces qui debordent de machins, manque d’air frais, on a qu’une envie c’est de partir. Il y a un reel effort sur le petit dejeuner mais malheureusement ce n’est pas suffisant. Ce B&B pourrait etre super en elevant 70% du souk entassé, renové, repeint. Les commentaires hyper positifs sont incomprehensibles car tres loin de la realité. En conclusion, ce B&B ne repond a aucune promesse des photos et de la plupart des commentaires d’autant qu’il est vraiment trop cher par rapport a des equivalents en nouvelle angleterre. Pour conclure, allez taper sur les colonnes, cela resumera bien la situation. Une maison coloniale factice avec des colonnes vides …

Our 2 night stay at the 1833 was awesome, Evan the host was very helpful with navigating the area with great recommendations. The breakfast served in the morning was great. The house is decorated in great antiques from years past and we’re very interesting to peruse. The kids loved the pool and tennis courts. The pool was awesome!

The photos of this place are amazingly misleading… when you arrive, it looks like it’s going to be quaint and cosy, and the owner reserves a special welcome. So it starts out well. But the rooms are cluttered with so much stuff, and the air feels stgnant. The dogs are well behaved, but the house definitely smells of a house with animals. The breakfast was delicious. But frankly, we couldn’t wait to leave… disappinted, particularly since this was the most expensive hotel of our trip.

We had an amazing stay! A very unique experience in an historical home. Evan, the host, was lovely and couldn't do more to make sure we had a perfect stay. I highly recommend staying here. Beautiful big rooms with spa baths in each. We ended up staying an extra night! Evans cooks a fresh 3 course breakfast which is one of the best we've had. Delicious food, and a memerable lovely stay. Thank you Evan.
