I was there for several days. Ali at the reception was very nice and helpful. The location and the terrace are wonderful. The place need some works and a little bit of more cleaning. But I don’t have any complaints. I booked the room with a big bath tube (never used for a bath, I should have needed cleaner for that). Although the fridge never worker, nor the wifi in the room did, the a/c worked perfectly and that was the most important thing to be able to sleep.

Zunächst das positive. Das Hostel ist sehr zentral gelegen und ich denke für jemanden der nur nach einer Party ins Bett fallen will das richtige. Aber. Es ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Die Einrichtung ist mehr als marode und teils baufällig. Wir waren hier in der Regenzeit und es regnete durch die Decke aufs Bett. Ein Fenster gab es nicht. Hier war inzwischen ein Taubennest drin. Das geteilte Badezimmer stand permanent unter Wasser und war alles andere als sauber. Das Personal schlief meist auf dem Boden als wir kamen und war nur mäßig freundlich. Alles in allem bin ich froh nach zwei Tagen diesen Ort verlassen zu können.

I recently stayed at the Bottom Up Guest House in Stone Town, and I must express my disappointment with the experience. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the establishment was far below acceptable standards. Dirty Environment: The guest house was not clean; I encountered numerous cockroaches during my stay, which was quite unsettling.

Was a bad experience to stay in bottoms up , people there don,t care about the guest , the time of breakfast from 8:00 to 10:00 but they begain at 8;45 so you have to leave without breakfast or lost your program ,, bad breakfast , lady who prepare breakfast its quiet dirty .so food will make you patiant No wifi in the rooms Beds are dirty , heater without hot water ,, No soap , Just they will catch up money and put you in the room without anything.

I stayed one night, next morning the smell of sewerage from the bathroom drain was horrendous. I left the hotel immediately . The stairs to the top floors are steep & dangerous . Not a pleasant experience .

Lady starts to clean right in front of the room at 7 am shouting with her other cleaning lady. Like literally shouting. No civism. They don’t know hospitality unfortunately. I don’t recommend this hostel. Unfortunately it’s nice worth the view and cheap. If you are a HARD sleeper it’s fine. If not, don’t come here.
