Very bad reception at that of Aberfoyle!!! -Reception: After driving several hours to get to the hotel we only wanted to eat and relax. We arrive to check in and the receptionist Emilia tells us 5 minutes I'll be there! (no hello, please or other polite wording!) She arrives after 15 minutes!!!!!! without apologizing and speaks to us very curtly (we realize that she is not happy at all) we ask her for breakfast hours, she answers us uh, first I must have your visa card. (still in a really not cool tone at all). she checks us in by slamming the keys and our cards roughly on the counter, -Restaurant: The waiters were not friendly either, no hello, the meal was really of poor quality, I find that so shameful for a normally 4* hotel!!! During our stay, we visited several hotels and b&bs and I assure you that we were received simply but so warmly and the quality of the products was excellent. What a contrast! We who are so delighted to come to this hotel given the amenities and the setting; I will definitely not come back there again and I will not recommend it! -Breakfast: The next day when you woke up, another great disappointment, how can I tell you that it was empty. Personally I find that what best defines this hotel is the appearance. At first glance it's very pretty, the setting is green, the interior is very elegant. The rooms are spacious but that's it. -The hygiene of the room was fair.

The hotel is disgusting. We were planned to stay there for 4 nights from Aug 22 but finally we stayed 1 night then moved to another hotel. There are no reception service to check in, we were waited for 30 mins and end up 1 staff came to argue with us to say we just waited for 10 mins. No lift, need to carry the luggage ourselves. No heater for cold weather. Think about if in winter there are no heater, you will be freezing in the room and no one will coming to help you. The waiter drop the food up of my clothes when serving. No apologies AT ALL. Can’t request what’s the food you going to have. It’s all based on the waiters recommendations. No wifi service until we paid 10 pound to the young boy in restaurant to help to set up for us. The room had insects. Facilities broken. Door without lock etc…

Hotel, spa, gardens lovely, location stunning but the restaurant very poor. The new menu was promoted as innovative and inspiring but was boring and uninspiring. Vegetarians could choose from 2 things , vegans could have a salad and those on a gluten free diet could have a steak, a frozen burger or chicken breast despite an Indian menu having been developed in consultation with Atal Kochhar. Toast at breakfast was soggy warm bread. It's a shame dining let the lovely hotel down.

We recently used a spa break voucher that we recieved for a Christmas gift and it was a considerable value. We arrived at 1300 and couldn’t check in till 1500 which was absolutely fine, we relaxed in the bar which was really quiet and had a couple of drinks before check in, the bar was comfortable with a lovely view and the bar staff were kind and helpful. The wife had some light lunch which she thought was really nice. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable We had a deep tissue massage and we couldn’t complain. The spa facilities in general were poor. The jacuzzi was cold and the swimming pool despite being told was heated was really cold, to be fair the reception had advised us of this. The steam room was the best feature but the Sauna was also of a poor standard. They had two beds around the pool so you had nowhere to relax and the jacuzzi even if warm would struggle to fit 2/3 people so really small. The dinner was first class, albeit on the expensive side but the staff were really hard working and helpful. Plenty of choice on the menu. Pros Staff Food Massage Room Cons. Hotel is dated General spa facilities not up to Standard you would expect. I would suggest hotel is good for a night away or travelling through Trossachs but I wouldn’t go for spa break again. That said staff make the hotel and nothing was an issue.

Nice hotel in stunning countryside. We had a deluxe king room, which had great views of the loch, and the well kept grounds, plus we had a balcony with table and chairs. Room was well appointed and comfy. We used the pool and spa, very good quality. Food was ordinary at dinner, and very overpriced. In future we would eat in Aberfoyle. Breakfast was very good indeed, great selection. We thought the staff were friendly and professional. We would return, but eat out in the evening!

Visited at September weekend to celebrate a 50th birthday with the family there were 11 of us who were aged 3 -56 aged booked 2 x Lodge/apartments. Lovely and spacious could be doing with a bit of a coat of paint etc, but this did not effect our Celebrations. Each lodge had 2 bedrooms 3 bathrooms and a sauna. We used the pool which was good for all ages. Beautifully kept gardens and lots of walks. Some of us ate in the restaurant which is very over priced which is a shame. Just make sure you take plenty of food etc with you as the nearest ships are a few miles away and take aways limited and quite expensive. Kitchens are well.equiped with large Fridge freezer, nespresso machine toaster. There is also a welcome pack with dishtowels, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and clothes.

Such a wonderful experience, 2 night stay at the Forest Hill hotel and spa. Right from the start of your day with a delicious breakfast in the restaurant to an afternoon spend in the hotel spa. Relaxing afternoon spent in the jacuzzi, sauna and pool. The facilities are clean and tidy, staff were always on hand adding to the experience. The jacuzzi, albeit small was perfect for me, the temperature was just right, followed by 20 minutes in the sauna, finished off with a cold shower and a swim in the pool. The environment is relaxing and the facilities are homely and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We visited the spa as a one off while we are staying locally . I’m afraid it was a poor experience, the pool is ok but surrounded by tired facilities . The changing rooms were very cold and tatty . Much in need of redecorating . The jacuzzi pool was warm but the main pool wasn’t . We stayed for an hour but left as there was a persistent smell of stagnant water from the pool , showers and jacuzzi. Fortunately we hadn’t paid as it was part of our holiday trip … if we had then we would have asked for a refund .
