What a lovely hotel with a sun trap of a garden!, beer was great, food was great and staff were lovely and welcoming, such a noice stay, i will be back, the sunday roast was incredible! and the classical sundaes so noice!

Wow what beautiful site! Great stay for exploring the South Downs and local area. The food is fantastic, the beer well kept and such a sun trap of a garden. So noi Will be revisiting with friends and to check out the tea room next door!

My elderly parents, long-time guests at the Castle Inn, were charged an unexpected £75 during a recent stay—despite a confirmed booking for an accessible room and full payment already made. The charge was for an “extra person,” though both guests were named at booking and no concerns were raised during their stay. Despite staff admitting their initial booking error (1 instead of 2 guests), only half the amount was refunded. The incident caused significant distress to my family, including my autistic son. The dismissive attitude from management, suggesting unhappy locals should “go elsewhere,” only added insult to injury. ⚠️ Think twice before booking here—especially if accessibility and respectful service matter to you.

Booked a table for fathers day. Decided to have a roast,was very disappointed with the roast potatoes. They were very dry in the middle and hard on the outside. Meats weren't great. Vegetables very nice. When you spend over £100 on food you expect it to be good. They did give us dessert half price. We were told roasts came with cauliflower cheese but did not! And wanted £6 for it ! Meats and potatoes were not hot.

Great spot in the Sussex countryside. Excellent attitude from staff in all areas - helpful, friendly, informative - made the stay superior. Good value when booking direct. Dinner in the hotel exceeded expectations. Recommend.

It is with regret that I have taken to Trip Advisor to leave a review of my experience following a family meal a the Castle on 26th May 2025. We were over charged after a mistake by the waitress on our bill. I have tried to resolve, have called numerous times and been back in with my receipt. Originally told that I would have a refund of £39.99 (Which I am happy with) but no one seems able to action this request. Managers are never available and each time I call I am told they will get back to me, they never do. I have tried to resolve so review is my last option.
