A nice property. The room was too small for two of us, especially needing a ladder to access the bed. Breakfast was very nice. Be weary of booking where other guests have zero consideration for sharing such common living quarters.

Convenience, character, quiet relaxation, friendliness are just some of the terms that I feel about Mariposa. This B&B is simply wonderful. My wife and I spent a week at Mariposa in late August and we felt so much at home with our hosts, Beth and Clara. This was our third visit to Steamboat, the first being in 2019. It was our first stay at Mariposa and now it will be our only place to stay in the future. "Breakfast at 8" is an experience not to be missed as is the stream at the back of the property. Also impressive were the wonderful guests whom we met during our time at Mariposa. Another aspect that should be emphasized is how close Mariposa is to downtown Steamboat and all the superb shops, bars and restaurants. Thank you Beth and Clara for the wonderful breakfast, hospitality, and great conversation. See you on our next visit from Virginia.

The common rooms, back yard and creek view were charming. However, it was hard to find the Mariposa, even with GPS - suggest visible signage from the main road. A giant four-poster bed was crammed into our tiny bedroom -- impossible to get into the bed from the window side. There was a roach in the shower. This inn/room is worth $200/night, not $300 (taxes included).

From the moment I saw the front porch and opened the door, I was in awe. Our room, the Monarch, was elegant and inviting. Every detail was included: the comfy bed, the gas fireplace, the jacuzzi tub and all the lovely linens. The breakfast served by friendly staff was delicious and the other guests felt like friends. My favorite was sitting by the moving stream sketching with a cool glass of wine close by.

The Mariposa has become our second home in Steamboat; it's always a pleasure to pull up in front of the building, open the door, and we look at each other and say ....." yeah, just going to relax for a few right here, kick off our shoes, put the skis in the foyer, maybe have a beer before we head out for dinner" ......and it feels damn good. and then there's breakfast - and we don't even eat breakfast, normally. I guess that's why they call it vacation.

We chose The Mariposa for a post-wedding vacation in Colorado (before our return to Texas where we live) and what a wonderful choice (! The whole lodge, its creekside garden setting, the fantastic Monarch room, the delicious full breakfasts -- everything was such a treat after our daughter's marriage at Wild Basin (Allenspark, CO). Loved all the little "fireplaces" in the room, sunroom, living room. Enjoyed a lazy day in the garden. Gathered in the sunroom to talk with sister and brother-in-law (who live in California) for some great family time. We have stayed at many B&Bs all over the US (and internationally) and The Mariposa experience is absolutely one of the best.

I would say the location and the house have great potential. My husband and I did enjoy sitting by the creek in the evening. And Livi prepared a wonderful breakfast. Other travelers may be interested in knowing that your check in and stay are pretty much without a host. Not usually a problem for us. We have stayed other places that take the same approach but it is not common in our experience with a bed and breakfast stay. Usually there is repetition in self serving instructions throughout rentals that leave you to it, but that is not the case here. We chose to stay in the Monarch because it is stated as being the premier suite. I would not have booked this room if I had known that the fireplace was not working (especially since we found out that it has been a known issue for some time now) and there were no instructions on how to use it. Very frustrating. If it is important to you to have a bathtub during your stay than this is the room for you from what we saw of the other rooms in the house. Otherwise you can save some coin picking a different one. There are some minor issues that can easily be addressed. Such as the lights on the night stands not working because the cords don’t reach the plugs, extension cords would take care of this problem. The bed frame itself is beautiful but really does need to be cut down. My husband is six foot three inches tall and stated that the height is a bit much. The bed was not comfortable in our opinion, we both did not sleep well and got up with sore hips. It just wasn’t very pleasant for us. Investment in a top quality mattress would serve the guests better. The room was cold and there were no instructions on how to make it warmer. We discovered a thermostat outside the door to the suite that worked to raise the temperature in the room after a bit of time due to it being baseboard heating which is great but you may want to do this first when arriving. The house does make noise at night with the outside temperature changes. If you are a light sleeper you might want to bring earplugs or something. We played ocean sounds on our phone all night to soothe our restless attempt at a good nights rest. I don’t want to discourage anyone from staying here. It is really the only multi room bed and breakfast in this town that I could find. This is definitely to the owners advantage. It just didn’t feel like the bed and breakfast experience that we have come to enjoy among our travels. This is the reason for my review. I would suggest calling and asking a bunch of questions so that your expectations and experience are hopefully what you get. Steamboat Springs is beautiful! A fellow guest recommend taking a hike at Fish Creek Falls which was easy and absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary having dinner at Cafe Diva. The food was exceptional 😋 you will not be disappointed, the prices do reflect the quality that we received. We also enjoyed Back Door Grill before he

We were looking for something surrounded by nature and found it. Beautiful setting at the end of a quiet lane. Short drive or walk to restaurants without being in the thick of it. Comfortable room, warm innkeepers (Livi, Beth, Alyssa[sp?]), delicious breakfasts. Pleasant common room spaces, great kitchen. Great lodgings make great trips. We had both, thank you.
