Central Stavanger Guesthouse

Location: Highly praised for proximity to the city center, harbor, and major attractions .

Stayed one night at the Center Economic Stavanger and that was enough. It’s not a bad hostel (or guest house) option but where there is charm in the old wooden homes in the city, come inefficiencies for mass group living. The patio and kitchen are very nice and the common area is a pretty good size for the overall size of the guest house. The directions for check-in were very clear and detailed, which was much appreciated. But the lockbox to access the female dorms wasn’t easy to use and someone left it open with the key exposed as well. The 4-bed female dorm was very cramped and there are hooks for towels, except for one bed which just has a sign and no hook. Or hooks are put in weird places when there are full walls available to add them to. The double bunks also aren't compatible to the low ceilings, as the top bunk is not far below the ceiling so I couldn't sit up in the bed, and I had a ceiling light immediately above me. Just weird choices in how they think people live and move. Kitchen is nice, although a lot of the cupboard space is reserved for staff. But fridge is good size. You have to be out at 12pm and there is a luggage room to store (which is just under a bench across from the men's dorms. I don’t know if I would stay again and I wouldn’t voluntarily recommend it. But it is an economic option in Stavanger. But I wouldn’t stay more than one night if it's busy. Personally.
