I am from Greensboro and was asked by a friend for some help. The situation was her parents house burnt down while they were on vacation and the parents have been living out of a broke down car they own. I offered my help. I booked a new night stay on Trip.com for Days Inn by Wyndham in Statesville. On Trip.com I made sure of a free cancellation. Trip.com did not specify when the free cancellation was valid. Because of the situation it was after one in the morning I booked the one night stay for my friends parents. Upon arrival the hotel declined us because the booking time was for Wednesday, May 4th. It was 2am on Wednesday May 4th at this time. I asked if I could rebook and the gentleman working the window slapped a paper against it and said "read". The paper had a section circled saying there is a $200 accomodations fee. I asked about cancelling since that, "was listed as an option". They declined being able to and told me to call customer service. I paid nearly $80 for a room that cannot be stayed at and now the parents are still homeless in a broken down car. I spoke with customer service they said they'd try either to reimburse me and around 5am I received an email explaining how they tried everything but the Inn would not comply or pay me back. I offered to rebook for the night I was there as long as I was reimbursed for the night they did not stay. So with I high recommend staying away from this Inn I was served with disrespect and I honestly want to say we were discriminated against. The man working at the Inn window for checking In tried to refuse allowing me to check in because"I looked young" I handed him my driver's license and he finally started to listen. But his actions were frankly rude. He turned his back to me while speaking about 80% of the conversation and told us we were not staying there without paying an accomodation fee. Even if I wanted to book that night I'd need to pay $200 just for entering. So, sorry I'm writing a negative review but I am $80 short now because of a Inn at Statesville refusing to allow a family which home burnt down to stay the night for one night which I remind you is paid. I am highly disappointed and will never return to this Inn, the service was awful.
