Hampton Inn Starkville

We were going to Starkville for a wedding. We really wanted somewhere to regroup and change into our wedding attire. Because of the timing, our best option was to book two nights. But, it was hard to justify paying for two nights for the event. Early check in wasn't an option when booking, even as a Hilton Honors member. So, I called the hotel weeks in advance, asking about accessing the room 1.5 to 2 hours before the official check in time. I was told that I would need to call back the day of arrival to ask. I did that and was told that there MIGHT be something available at that time. We arrived about 1.5 hours before the official check in time and were told they didn't have any rooms AT ALL available. Seemed weird that none of the now vacant rooms hadn't been cleaned by that time as the official check out time was more than two hours earlier. We were told that something might be ready shortly and we told them we would wait. A few minutes later, a manager of some sort told us that a different type of room was available if we wanted that. We took it because we needed to get our clothes changed. The room was fine. Standard Hampton Inn room. We changed and went on our way. Fast forward to a few hours later. Again, because of our timing, we decided we wouldn't stay overnight. We went back to the hotel, changed into comfortable clothes and checked out. When checking out, the front desk person didn't even ask if there was something wrong or whatever. He just said have a good night. LOL! So, I can't attest to whether or not the bed was comfortable. But, we felt like the staff wasn't particularly helpful or friendly. We felt like we were considered a big headache.

A comfortable, cosy stay — especially for a Hampton Inn! Excellent location. Welcoming, if not overly friendly, staff at check-in. This was my first time staying in Starkville (though not my first visit to the city) and I hadn’t realized just how busy the hotel’s area would be! Totally okay, however, as it meant there were many many many things (restaurants, shops etc) within walking distance. + My room was relatively clean (a few hairs that were not mine were in the bathroom…..ewww), and the room itself and the hallway smelt very new. -/+ There’s no business center at the hotel, which I did need…..but staff were kind enough to print some documents for me at the front desk. - Internet was terrible — very weak and dropped out all the time. - Breakfast very typical of a Hampton Inn — Standard American Diet with waffles and packaged foods etc.
