The Arcadia International Forest Hotel is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. The Arcadia International Forest Hotel is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Shennongjia. Hongping Airport and Xingshan Railway Station are located 52km and 63km away respectively. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the RongSheng Health Valley International Ecological Tourism Resort, Longjiangping Rainbow Valley and RongSheng Health Valley all nearby. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. Guests tell us the location of this hotel is fantastic. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.
"First, the positives: The hotel's location and surroundings are quite appealing. It's about a 20-minute drive past Muyu Town, nestled in a relatively open mountain valley at an altitude of 1650 meters. The air quality, with its high negative oxygen ion content, is excellent, and waking up to a sea of clouds in the mountains is a breathtaking experience.
The service from the gentleman at the front desk and the lady I communicated with via WeChat was exceptional. The front desk staff member provided a very detailed introduction to the Shennongjia attractions and offered helpful suggestions. The lady on WeChat was incredibly responsive and accommodating to all my requests. The three points I've given for service are entirely due to their excellent efforts.
Now for the less satisfactory aspects, which I'll enumerate for clarity:
1. Aside from the two wonderful staff members I just mentioned, other employees truly left a very poor impression. We arrived at 8:30 PM, and after confirming that restaurant orders were taken until 9 PM, we quickly headed to the restaurant at 8:45 PM and ordered a full table of dishes, including two clay pot stews from our set meal (we were informed that we could get broth refills to cook vegetables). We ate as fast as we could, but at 9:10 PM, when we asked a waitress to add more broth for our vegetables, she flatly told us it wasn't possible because the chef had already left. Her attitude was extremely stiff. As we stared at a table full of uncooked vegetables, still dumbfounded, she dismissively said 'there's nothing I can do' and haughtily walked away. I was truly dumbfounded; I haven't encountered such a rude server in a very long time. It was abundantly clear she felt we were interfering with her going home! Unsurprisingly, breakfast service was equally dismal. Breakfast was supposed to be until 10 AM, but for two consecutive days, they stopped replenishing food from 9:30 AM onwards. I had my eye on the doufunao (tofu pudding) for two days but never got to try it! On the first day, it was gone by 9:30 AM, and on the second, by 9:20 AM, with no one refilling it. When I politely asked the staff, I received no response.
2. The facilities are outdated. For a room costing over 1,000 RMB a night, the dated decor is one thing, but the balcony screen door was broken, only one of the vanity mirror lights worked, and the sealant strips in the shower enclosure were aged, causing water to leak all over the bathroom floor during showers.
3. Hygiene: After checking in around 8 PM, I found the balcony door wide open in the room, and the screen window hadn't been replaced. I couldn't imagine how many insects could have flown in. To make matters worse, there was a dead fly in the toilet bowl. This made me feel uncomfortable and uneasy the entire first night, and I didn't sleep well, constantly feeling itchy... Fortunately, this particular issue didn't reoccur on the second day, and I slept much better."
