Based in a lovely area with stunning views, this place promised a lot. We looked the old-fashioned charme and countryside feel. Some bar staff seemed a bit hapless but the food was great. Reason for the low rating is the quality and cleanliness of the rooms. Our kettle was completely scaled inside and there was black mould in the shower. I also found long dark hairs in the shower. For rooms of this price, I'd expect some kind of rug on the floor. The whole accommodation was not in the slightest luxurious, which would be reasonable to expect for the price South Causey charges. I don't think we'll be back.

Booked afternoon tea here and then one of the party became ill and tried to move it to another day but was told we couldn’t. We gave plenty of time and staff was most unhelpful so I wouldn’t recommend booking and paying in advance as they are inflexible. We didn’t want to cancel it but move it and bluntly said no! Would definitely consider somewhere else is planning ahead.

We absolutely love our local. The service is always impeccable. The food is generally above most establishments within a 4-5 mile radius. Sometimes, though, the other patrons can be hit or miss. Some are generally rude, like when they completely ignore the queue and just march straight to the front. We often order the cheeseboard when we visit, and they’re mostly outstanding. However, we’ve noticed some inconsistency in the quality or size of the boards. The first photo is from the first week of August, when we got 12 crackers and 8 slices of cheese! To a one at end of August with 10 crackers and 6 bits of cheese To todays 16th September with 8 crackers and 4 bits of cheese In none of these occasions has the price reduced Which equates to 3rd reduction in crackers form first to last and 50% reduction in cheese from first to last

Very disappointed as normally meals here are amazing. Carvery however was very poor, the whole experience just wasn’t right from having to stand in a queue of 15 people to order and pay for drink and food instead of table service, to tasteless food, and staff just wandering about not really knowing what to do, all in all very expensive and very very average. Food wasn’t great meat very tasteless, veg undercooked and potatoes tasted reheated. Staff unhelpful and just stood about, having to queue at a bar to order drinks n food seemed crazy when staff just stood about. The room felt like a dinning hall at school, music blasting out. Think they need to really re think this approach it just didn’t work.

Very expensive rooms for what you get. The food is first class but that's where it ends. We attended a family wedding in one of the pods which was lovely and decided to stay the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. We were so disappointed with the room it was the Causey cottage. We didn't even have any wine glasses only two plastic glasses. Love the restaurant but definitely not the rooms.

My wife and I visited South Causey Inn bank holiday Monday..the place itself is bigger than I expected with different areas designed for weddings..hotel rooms and bars...we only planned our visit a few days before and hadn't booked a table in the bar restaurant however when we arrived around 2pm we were accommodated no problem even though it was still very busy..we ordered drinks and lunch...lunch menu was set for a bank holiday but was still quite extensive for choice with plenty of choice..our drinks arrived quickly with only about a 10 minute wait for our food..we weren't disappointed with either the quality or portion sizes...I can honestly say it was one of the best meals we've eaten for some time and we would highly recommend a visit...all the staff were really polite and attentive ..full credit to them under busy circumstances...I would like to return in the near future and hopefully will...10/10..

Attended a wedding yesterday, our room, 23 was right next to another wedding venue, not the wedding we were attending. There are signs all over saying to keep the noise down after midnight. The guests were so noisy, smoking outside our room and throwing cigarette bits all over. They were shouting, screaming and searing. This went on until around 1.30am when the police arrived and arrested a female. So didn’t get hardly any sleep. Don’t know why theses rooms are not kept for the guest attending the venue next to them. Spoke with reception this morning to say I wasn’t prepared to pay £175 for the room, just to give you the heads up too they take another £50 damage deposit!! I’m still waiting for reception to investigate what happened last night as if that wasn’t obvious, a wedding guest was arrested! Safe to say I won’t stay here again. Can’t fault the wedding we were at in the barn. It was just perfect but was spoilt by people that have no respect for others!

Stayed for two nights for my daughters wedding in August the wedding was fantastic and the place is beautiful the staff and wedding coordinator very good and helpful and everything went smoothly but I feel the place is really let down by some staff being quite rude and sharp and making you feel a little uncomfortable. The girl who sees you in for breakfast at reception I don’t know her name on each morning she wore a dark suit has no customer service skills at all and makes you feel like you should not even be there our first morning we had breakfast in the room second we came down to breakfast and I returned for a third breakfast to meet family leaving the next day and each time was treated in the same rude away other family members and friends who stayed also commented on this same member of staff she even questioned why we where there which I found very odd and we had to explain what we where doing there while she looked us up and down like we where sneaking in the place I have to say the food was beautiful for each meal that we did have shame about the greeting
