The attention to detail was absolutely spot on. We took our two dogs and they were made very welcome. Great room and to have fresh milk for tea, should be standard 👍large bathroom and lovely food. We are going back end of December. Town is great to walk round and lovely local walks.

Cosy place to stay. Every room has a different name and interior. Even at the street side, there is not too much noise from the traffic. Beds are comy with enough pillows. Lovely pub with outdoor heated seating area. Breakfast is well prepared and abundant. Personnel is friendly.

Disappointed that our booking was taken for dinner without being told the pub tables inside the building were all taken so we,'d be outside! It was a very cold evening. Upon arrival we were taken to what essentially is a large shed in the garden. Inside this "space" picnic tables with cowhide skins on the fixed benches were provided for guests. I had specifically asked the staff member who greeted us if this alternative venue had four walls and a roof. He said it did. Well this was less than an honest response unless someone had stolen one of the The ingress of cold night air ruined any ambience and defeated the wall heaters provided. There was absolutely no cosy pub feel there, just harsh lights and uncomfortable benches. Probably because we were in the garden the inadequate numbers of staff (we counted 3) were unable to provide us with a timely service. Orders were taken slowly and delivered slowly. The burgers were greasy, unattractively presented with chips that were hard, cold and inedible. The compulsory service charge on a largely overpriced and poorly provuded meal is 12.5%! Outrageous.

Lovely room, very comfy bed, service was excellent and friendly, good location - it was a great stop over for me. Decor in the bedroom and public areas is very historic/traditional and welcoming - everywhere very clean and smart. I’d stay again.

Wow such a great find - highly recommend The Bull & Swan. The rooms (ours was the Greyhound) was so lovely - the bed was absolutely massive. Pub had such a lovely cozy atmosphere and the morning breakfast was first class. Staff were very nice - don't have a bad word to say. Keep it up guys we will most definitely be back.

Character property with lovely touches. We stayed in Porcupine, which is accessed via the garden. Torrential rain nearly had us stranded as the garden quickly flooded. Manager had an umbrella which we borrowed to go out but the property could benefit from a collection of them for guests. The main reason for the rating is the noise of banging doors is continuous. Why oh why have you not put soft close fittings on them? It’s so disruptive when it just doesn’t need to be. All the rooms face the road which didn’t bother me that much but I absolutely wouldn’t want to stay there in the summer. The room is cozy but this would make it stiffing on a hot day, and you wouldn’t want the window open as it’s ground level and of course street noise. All in all I wouldn’t be in a rush to come back. It’s an expensive place for the noise you have to endure!

Very nice historic inn. Good size room and comfy bed. Good breakfast, atmospheric bar below. You get a half price voucher for Burgley House if you ask. We also had their Sunday roast which was tasty with lots of good veg and gravy. Only downsides are that the room was a bit noisy with voices from below and traffic outside but all quiet after 10pm or so. And my wife prefers a hand held shower as well as the overhead one.

I had a good sized room up its own staircase above the bar. A large comfortable four poster double bed, and an excellent coffee machine. The room has a roll top bath and high quality products such as shampoo, bath soak etc. The decoration made it feel like you had a room in the nearby Burghley House. Although the room overlooks the road, I was not disturbed by road noise, nor noise from the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful in answering questions. the only quirk to bear in mind is that the parking is at their sister property, which is only c.100 yards away so not a problem for me. I would come back next time I'm working in Peterborough.
