This is the second time I’ve tried staying at this hotel as it’s a convenient location for work. However, I was not impressed with either of the rooms for the money you pay (£160!). Bathrooms are awful - tiny and terribly decorated, shower tiny and leaking! I was dubious about cleaning standards - dust/ dirt on skirting! Room this month was freezing when I arrived in evening - I would have thought management would have considered turning on radiators prior to guests arrival - had to sleep in jumper as room took ages to warm up! There is a coffee machine and toiletries but no more than you’d get in a bog standard Premier Inn. Checking in I was not advised breakfast times nor check out so on check out the manager charged an extra £20 for late check out - not even a courtesy call to room to check I was aware or gesture of good will to remove - her answer “well you should have read your email” then rolled her eyes at me. If that’s the level on management then it does make me wonder how the other team perform - especially the cleaners! Will never be staying again thanks to the final terrible service and attitude on check out and I probably wouldn’t have make this review either if it were not for her - well done that manager, perhaps a career in hospitality should be reconsidered!

Excellent. Don’t hesitate to book. We were only booked for one night but wish it was longer. All the staff were the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever encountered on my many travels. Nothing was too much trouble. They smiled all the time. We stayed for dinner which was wonderful. It is a historic hotel and the rooms confirmed this. Very comfortable beds. Can’t praise the hotel enough. Five minute walk to town centre

A beautiful building and an amazingly comfy bed. An absolutely amazing nights stay, the bed was incredibly comfy and we slept like a log. The staff were very attentive, one slight criticism was they need more staff as when we went to the bar we were waiting for quite a while to be attended to. Their sister bar restaurant down the road we left after 20 minutes, the waiter took my drink order while my wife was choosing, 20 minutes later and nothing. So sadly they lost out on our food and drinks order.

Great little stay Overnight stay in Stamford. We were slightly apprehensive due to some of the reviews but our experience was really good. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Our room was lovely with a huge bed and a deep free standing bath. Breakfast was great…… what’s not to like? We will definitely stay here again👍👍

Was a bit disappointed in our room For £200 thought room would be bigger. Was more impressed with bathroom! Had instructions to use coffee machine but no coffee machine in room!! When told at reception I could have rung down for coffee told them bit difficult as no phone in room!! Not a relaxing stay if I have to keep running downstairs to ask for coffee! My biggest pet hate with beds is 2 single mattresses pushed together so I’m laying on the gap all night!! Not comfortable. If I book a double room I expect a double mattress. Not worth the money paid!!! Expected more to be honest! Wont be returning!! Did have a lovely time at the Xmas market.

Went for a night with friends. We booked superior rooms through *******. On arrival to the rooms, they were nothing like the pictures. Really shabby. Not even anywhere to put your toothbrush! Constant banging noise in the bathroom all night which we think must have been a faulty extractor fan. Only one socket by the bed that wouldn’t take a normal plug, so couldn’t keep phones charged by the bed. No full length mirror, stained tiling in the bathroom, wardrobe that could only hang short items & very mismatched furniture that had all seen better days & just gave the room a stark & uncomfortable feeling. We asked at reception if we had been given the right rooms. Their reply was that they don’t use the terms superior like ******* had, but we had apparently booked their medium rooms. If they are advertising through *******, then they should make sure the terminology is correct. The pictures of the medium rooms on the hotel website are way, way superior to what we had and we feel like we were totally misled. We were told later that they are in the process of doing the rooms up. In that case, don’t charge the same rate for the rooms that are still an awful state. We were offered a glass of Prosecco on the house, which was a kind gesture, but in no way made up for the disappointment of the rooms. Staff were friendly enough, although when we checked in and asked the receptionist to split the bill between two people, her reply was ‘you can just pay & then transfer to each other’ which I thought was extremely rude. We did then insist that she just put half of the room charge on each person’s card. Breakfast was good, and hotel is attractive with some nice areas but wouldn’t stay here again.

William Cecil our go-to for all food. Just had their mince pie with chantilly cream, best mince pie ever. Unfortunately photo doesn’t do it justice as was just too good to wait to eat!. Never mind will try another one next time perhaps I can keep long enough to send photo.

The William Cecil offers a fabulous stay within Stamford right on the edge of the Burleigh estate. The hotel itself is a very old building that has been transformed into a comfortable stay location for guests and events alike. The staff could not be more accommodating to the needs of their guests, to the extent where the manager lent my wife his own personal umbrella to head into town during a rain shower. Overall an excellent stay and we would definitely return again should we visit Stamford onceoree in the future
