Everything about the welcome, decor, food, facilities (even the toiletries) was thoughtfully put together to make this hotel a wonderful place to stay. A leisurely Sunday morning stroll from the hotel garden onto the Burghley estate wrapped up our visit beautifully.

Rooms fantastic but staff all seemed new. Firstly told wrong way to room 20. Beautiful room though. Either we were very unlucky with the staff or they are very new. I have worked in hospitality for over 20 years and 90% of staff couldn’t care less. To top it off we were last in the bar at 10.45 and the bar man made it very obvious we inconvenienced him by ordering our last drinks. Such a shame as we want to come back to the area to visit Burghley but will look for alternative accommodation

Quirky room in the eaves, number 26, is absolutely delightful . Up in the attic it has low headroom ( we were warned )but it's huge ! Really enjoyed our short stay, high quality extras complete a great experience. Helpful , enthusiastic staff , luxurious lounges with attentive service . Very impressed. Thank you

A lovely experience at this wonderful hotel. Staff friendly and engaging, always obliging. Room was amazing, large and beautifully appointed. Clean with a good bathroom and shower and lovely views to the garden. Large and exceptionally comfortable bed with quality linen, quirky four poster columns. Also a mini fridge with milk and superb cookies, plus a coffee machine. Dinner was excellent with a very reasonably priced 2 or 3 course option as well as the a la carte choices. Breakfast 1st class with plenty of choice and quality ingredients. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, in fact we will next time we visit Burghley House which was closed on our visit due to filming although the gardens were open. We walked there across the field and it was a pleasant 30 minute walk. Parking excellent with spacious car park. Highly recommended.

A lovely hotel, ideally situated for visiting Stamford and BurghleyHouse. We stayed on a Burghley Break which included a 2 course dinner, breakfast and tickets to Burghley House. Our room (21) was at the far end of the hotel, very quiet and spacious. A lovely large comfortable bed, plenty of tea and coffee plus homemade cookies , along with fluffy robes and nice toiletries made it a relaxing stay. The only negative with the room is there is no mirror near a socket to plug in the hairdryer so I could see to dry my hair, not something you’d expect in a 4* hotel and an easy fix would be to put up a mirror over the drawer unit. This room is up a tight spiral staircase, so not suitable if you have any mobility issues or large luggage, thankfully we had neither. We ate in the hotel’s Milly’s Bistro and the food was good and service lovely.we would certainly stay here again when visiting Stamford.

My 10-year-old daughter and I stayed for one night and we had a lovely stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable (and I'm a picky sleeper, so that says a lot) and the shower was wonderfully spacious with a rain shower head. The hotel stocks very quality toiletries and there were homemade cookies and a gorgeous array of teas and coffee awaiting our arrival. Everyone was professional and courteous but Hugh in particular was so helpful, both before and during our stay. The location was superb - right next to Burghley House and a lovely walk from The Meadows and Stamford High Street. We had dinner in the restaurant (Milly's) and it was fabulous. My daughter had the chorizo and chicken and I had a few starters - all of which were divine but the mussels were to die for. Everything was elegantly presented and top-notch quality. Book early because it (rightfully) books up fast.

The hotel is a fine period building in lovely grounds, within easy walking distance of Stamford's centre. Elegant furnishings, very helpful staff and wonderful food. Burghley House and Garden are close and should not be missed (allow 4-6 hours if possible). We would choose a rear-facing room next time, though did not find road noise unacceptable. A memorable break in our journey from SE to NW.

Thank you for a wonderful stay and we'll be back. We found all staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful and professional and nothing was to much to ask for or about. I would like to thank the young gentleman serving breakfast on our first date of stay. I had not seen that the toaster was on the table for guests to use themselves and when I asked him for toast, he responded to enquire if I wanted a mix. He was busy himself and he could have easily brushed me aside by pointing me in the toasters direction but no, he fetched it for me himself. A small gesture, but underlines the customer service provided by the WC team. We stayed in rooms 19 and 20, beautiful rooms, spotlessly clean. Plenty of parking. Luxury toiletries. Most of all it was the relaxed friendly atmosphere and great service experienced. Great location for an easy walk to Stamford centre. Ask about the discount for tickets to enter Burghley House.
