Beautiful hotel. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our room was lovely, loved the decor, the beds were very comfy and the small touches like the lamps and the radio being on when we arrived and the homemade cookies made it extra special. Breakfast the next morning was very good. Lovely hotel in a lovely town. We will be back.

We went as two families meeting up for fun stay . We were really looking forward to meet up . The hotel is beautiful. It’s old and filled with history. It’s quirky and unique. We had lovely large room for 3 of us . My husband, my 13 year old daughter and myself. As did our friends . The rooms are close to main road so as expected there was noise . As list building I knew they could not do anything to change this. The furnishings in bedroom, bathroom and whole hotel was outstanding . The staff were very helpful and friendly . The only problem was the beds . We had booked family room and was expecting bed for my 13 yr old . There was a camp bed at end of large double bed . I can only describe it as more of a sun lounger with very thin cover to lay on made up . My 13 year old had very little sleep as it was very uncomfortable. As adults it was not stable or strong enough for one of us to safely sleep on . My daughter fell out of it . Because she was unable to sleep had impact on us all. I would advise in future family rooms should have bed in them as stated .This was not a bed by any stretch or imagination . Could easily be resolved by a simple mattress on wheels under the large bed could be pull out for use and would be safer and more comfortable. We would return but as a couple . We loved the ambiance and friendliness. Such a shame re beds in family rooms .

Full of character Lovely pub/hotel with lots of old world charm. Clean and comfortable in a great location. Stayed for Sunday lunch which was excellent. Bedroom was spacious and had everything you could need. My only very slight negative was the traffic noise, as our room was at the front.

A wonderful place to stay. We had booked a Sunday stay deal which included a delicious Sunday roast lunch and wonderful breakfast. The room we were allocated was large, with a rolltop bath and everything you could need for a night's stay. Great selection of toiletries including a bubble bath :) The staff were very kind and attentive, and we very much enjoyed our stay. The road noise at night might be a bit of a distraction for some, but we slept really well, very comfy bed too.

Excellent service and lovely staff who were very attentive. The room we had was large and extremely comfortable including a lovely mattress. The food served (evening meal and breakfast) was delicious and well prepared. We would definitely stay there again.

Had a lovely stay here and would recommend. It’s a very old building and as quirky and uneven as any old building is. The rooms are an amazing size, warm and comfy. The breakfast is fab! A basket of pastries, fruit and yogurt and a menu of hot food. Highly recommend the full bull and the avocado on toast.

An almost perfect stay! A lovely historic type of Inn with lots of character. It has a pleasant garden at the back with tables and chairs. The staff were very hospitable, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and they had a good selection of beers downstairs in a cosy pub. Almost a perfect stay apart from achieving very little sleep. This was due to very flat and old pillows in the bed. Additionally the windows are sealed, so we couldn’t let any fresh air in, which made it unbearably hot and stuffy. The mobile air con unit was very weak, so didn’t make much difference.

Pleasant stay Clean & comfortable room above the pub. Very comfy bed and good bath/shower. Bathroom and loo were outside of our room behind a curtain, which was fine for us, though did feel like anyone could potentially go in as there was direct access from the street up some stairs (unlikely, of course, but felt a bit strange!) Old & atmospheric, but felt could have done with a few touch ups. Thought it was a bit expensive for the money, though appreciate Stamford is pricey. Food in the pub was lovely, and friendly staff.
