We had a lovely stay at the William Cecil, with children and grandparents in three double rooms. The staff were delightful and couldn’t have been more accommodating. They arranged a ground floor room for grandad and two twins, as requested. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the quality of the food was very good.  The rooms were lovely. Quite compact but very nice, comfortable beds, nice toiletries and a coffee machine, which was super.

We've stayed in the William Cecil several times before. For a while it was looking, more shabby than chic, but it's definitely getting better. The rooms are very quirky, and some may not be easily accessible for everyone, so best to check when booking. The room we book has a fridge, which is great for keeping drinks etc cool. Breakfast is well organised and fantastic choice of hot and cold food available. Plentiful parking. My only gripe this time is we didn't get the home made cookies in the room every day- gutted, as they're so good. Maybe next year they'll be back!...please!

We had the most wonderful stay at the William Cecil. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff are so helpful and friendly. We dined in Milly’s and the food was delicious, a lovely evening.

I spent a couple of nights at the William Cecil with my girlfriends. We had a wonderful time. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and we all loved the Roberts radios and coffee machines. The toiletries were amazing. We had cosy attic rooms. I loved my room as it was quirky and snug. The bed was superbly comfortable. We had breakfast both mornings and dinner one evening. All the food was excellent and good value for money. We also had lovely cocktails. My only request is that the bar brings back the pear sidecar cocktail of a couple of years back, which was one of the nicest cocktails I've ever tasted! All members of staff were amazing-thank you all for your help with everything. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. All in all, thoroughly recommended.

We had stayed before and enjoyed the experience. However our visit was marred this time by the fact that we (I’m 81 years old) were given a room in the attic, which was ridiculously hot (albeit that a fan was provided (no air conditioning!) there was no lift and, in spite of being told by the young man on the desk that we had a walk-in shower in our room, we actually had a shower over the bath, which involved the tricky manoeuvre for me of clambering into the bath and out again. I found the whole experience exhausting and won’t repeat it.

We stayed for two nights to visit Burghley House. Our bedroom was comfortable, clean and well-appointed. Dinner and breakfast on both days were excellent. The staff were attentive, competent and friendly. Overall the cost was very reasonable. The hotel has charm and character. Burghley House is magnificent and The William Cecil is the perfect base for your visit.

Excellent staff, lovely rooms welcoming atmosphere spoiled by being charged extra for things that should be included in a hotel of this quality. We were charged a whopping £10.15p for a mediocre, warm cup of coffee with our breakfast, surely breakfast should include coffee, nothing special just a flat white. And who charges £5.50 (plus service charge) to have potatoes included on a set meal, i.e belly pork with cucumber and onion can surely not be considered a main course. A real shame a special occasion marred by silly nit picking charges added to our bill.

Absolutely loved my stay here! The hospitality was top-notch—Rachel in particular was so warm and welcoming. She really went the extra mile to make me feel at home. The room was cozy, full of character, and I loved having the radio on in the background—it added such a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious, and the whole vibe of the place was just lovely. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area again!
