The Punchbowl Hotel

My wife and I stayed for our annual visit to Kendal with our friends . The food is excellent, well cooked and presented at reasonable prices , with a good selection of. Well stocked bar , comfortable rooms with everything that is required . Above all are the excellent staff , who bend over backwards to be helpful, they work tirelessly to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. All in all a fantastic weekend, thank you !

To say this is a hotel is a total misrepresentation. It’s a working man’s pub with 2 rooms situated on a busy main road. We checked-in but then didn’t stay for long so we left and stayed elsewhere! Of all the places to stay in the Lake District I’d say this must be one of the worst! Sorry that’s a bit blunt but that’s how I felt and it is not a hotel!

Absolutely great place to stay. One of the friendliest places we've stayed. Rooms very good and cosy. Food and pub also excellent. Stayed here on our motorbikes and owners even made room for us to park in the secure area beside the pub,

Excellent place to eat, the food has always been well prepared and cooked, surroundings and staff excellent, have eaten here 3 times now different meal each time all excellent and ample portions to boot. It can get quite busy so probably best to book a table. Recommended

The food is lovely, but make sure you are hungry! The portions are generous and there is plenty of choice. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of ingredients and home cooking. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights, ideally located for local attractions. The Punchbowl is not far from the M6 and just a short distance from Kendal. There is an Asda store just before Kendal, in case you forget something for your break. We were staying in the Lake District for a family wedding and staff were fine about us being back late. I would highly recommend a stay at the Punchbowl, Lynn and her staff are great, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived on the Friday and had our evening meal there. Portions are generous, chef did me a salad as I'm fussy and didn't want any of the vegetarian options. My Aunt and cousin also joined us for dinner and they enjoyed their meals as well. Our room was lovely, very clean, homely and everything that you need. The bed was really comfortable and had a lovely view out of the window. Breakfast is included and you have a choice of juice, cereals, yogurt,cooked breakfast(including vegetarian), also scrambled eggs and salmon, porridge etc. I asked for poached eggs on the last morning which were lovely. The toast was good as well. You are given a warm welcome and a warm goodbye. I have booked again to stay with a friend.
