For almost 30 years we have been spending our winter holidays in Macugnaga, first at the Dufour Hotel and then at the Cima Jazzi. 2 wonderfully run establishments by extraordinary people Cristina and Giorgio who have become friends over the years. We even left all our ski equipment there. At the end of 2023 they ceased their activity and a new management was set up. The apartments are still very comfortable but what a terrible disappointment when we arrived. No welcome, we had to find the new reception area shared with the Monterosa residence hotel by ourselves. After a brief hello, we were immediately asked for the balance of the apartment. Impossible to obtain an invoice. We were given a simple receipt and the details of the price of the apartment with tourist tax and end-of-stay cleaning fees written on a vulgar piece of paper. No practical information either concerning the logistics (change of towels and others). All the microwave, kettle, etc. equipment has been removed. Nothing left to heat up except 1 large frying pan and 3 pots (small, medium and large) in accommodation designed for 6. The icing on the cake: 2 days before our return, the establishment sent us a text message to let us know that they were no longer keeping our equipment even though they had promised to do so before our arrival. Knowing that we were by train and plane, we found the approach to be cavalier to say the least. Fortunately, all our friends there: Cristina, Giorgio, Barbara, ski instructor, Sandra, Boris and the shopkeepers, mobilized for us. A big thank you to all of them. In short, we will return to Macugnaga, it is a magnificent village populated by admirable people but we will certainly not stay at Cima Jazzi again. What a shame!
