Helaas wordt het hotel verbouwd en ik wist dit niet toen ik 2 nachten boekte. Stoffig en veel kabaal. Bouwbesprekingen in de ontbijtzaal. Rotzooi in de lift.

Oude kamer , hoge opstap douche we geraakte er niet in we zijn slecht te been .geen airco op de kamer.zeker geen 4 sterren waard. En het eten was niet vers . Mijn zoon mag geen koffie dus hadden we chocolademelk gevraagd maar we moesten dan wel bij betalen .

Lekker zacht bed, goed ontbijt, schone kamer. Maar....de kamers waren wel erg gedateerd. Voegen in de badkamer waren zwart, en schimmel in de kitranden van het bad. Op t ongezellige balkon groeide mos uit het beton. Stadskanaal zelf is een saaie, zielloze stad.

Wij hadden het geluk de winnaars te zijn van de Kerstpuzzel in Brinkkoop Magazine. Cityhotel stadskanaal had de hoofdprijs , een driedaags arrangement ter beschikking gesteld en zo gingen wij op moederdag 11 mei 2025 richting Stadskanaal ten einde onze prijs te verzilveren. Wij hebben genoten. Vriendelijke ontvangst, ruime schone kamer met prima bedden. Het eten in het restaurant was van uitstekende kwaliteit en ook hier was de bediening weer top. Prima verblijf in een ietwat gedateerd hotel indien je dat vergelijk met een modern hotel als van der Valk. Dat wil zeggen: (versleten) vloerbedekking, hier en daar wat muffig qua geur, raambekleding versleten enzovoorts. Alles komt wel schoon over. Op een apart geurtje in de lift na. Zijn overigens aan het verbouwen dus dan belooft goeds. Wij hadden de Hunebed kamer laten omzetten naar een meer moderne kamer, met dank aan de medewerking bij de receptie zonder problemen geregeld. Restaurant vergelijkbaar, wat gedateerd maar een prima kaart voor een ‘eetcafé’. Service was top!
