My husband and I spent his birthday at Labor Day weekend. We have been there before and really enjoyed the pool and the cascading waterfall not to mention the richness of the hotel’s history and its fabulous lobby. We were disappointed about not being informed ahead of check-in that the pool was not open. We had to be shuttled to the golf resort to use the pool. The resort fee was waived and gave us late check-out. Pros: 1- Beautifully maintained facilities 2- Close proximity to The Pier, bars and restaurants. 3- Very nice and well appointed rooms 4- The tennis pro found us a couple for tennis. 5- Instagrammable lobby. 6- Golf resort restaurant was quiet and food was great. Servers were very attentive to our needs. Cons: 1- Lack of hooks in the rooms. 2- We missed out on the US Open tennis. ESPN was not in their program subscription anymore. 3- There was a breakdown of communication due probably to staff shortage. Overall, our stay was wonderful and we would go there again.

Booked this resort for my birthday weekend for a girls trip. (Labor Day weekend) upon arrival we were notified the pool had an issue during a repair and was CLOSED for the weekend (no notice was given to guests and many ppl were upset. It honestly felt like a bait and switch was shocked that they did not call guests to Inform prior to the stay as I would have made other arrangements) they had a small pool at their club about 2 miles away as an option with a shuttle for transportation. Honestly my face said it all a huge disappointment I should have stayed at the beach. The hotel itself has a beautiful lobby and the bell staff was very professional. The rooms were nicely appointed. The restaurant Paul’s Landing was good, the bar at the front of the hotel not so much. What was very apparent was they seemed understaffed given a holiday weekend and the pool situation. Even the club was overrun and way to small to handle the guests, food and drink took a long time and the staff was trying hard so I don’t fault them I would fault management. Would I return, likely not. The location was great so many restaurants within a short walk but that’s about all it has going for It.

We came up to St Petersburg from Naples for Labor Day weekend for a family gateway. At check in they tell us the pool is closed for renovation and we have to use the pool at the golf resort 2 miles up the road. Pretty disappointing that they don’t post anywhere on their site or mention it when I called to get a room upgrade. There is no other real lure of this hotel beside the pool. The pictures are smoke and mirrors and besides the beautiful lobby the rest of the hotel is unimpressive. Our room is maybe one step up from a Hampton inn . I would not rush to get back even when the pool is finished.

Staff need tracing on customer service with a smile. Upon checking in we felt inconvenience more than welcome with a smile. Our first time stay at Vinoy and that was not even acknowledged. The only staff that was pleasant and accommodating was the girl at the pool.

This is gold standard of hoteling (yes I made up a verb for this) 😄
