Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge

We spent 5 nights at the lodge and it’s hard to describe what a fantastic time we had. The villa, food and game drives were all excellent. GM Thami runs a very smooth ship and everyone who works here does it with passion. Our game guide Liberty was amazing and we saw so many incredible animal and bird sightings. Absolutely loved this place ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We stayed for 3 nights full board and did 4 game drives- we could have done 2 more. Overall. A fantastic stay in a great location. Food and service were excellent and the game drives were enjoyable. The 3 lions seen about 20 feet in front of us were not only a trip highlight but an all-time one! Highly recommended and in a malaria free zone. The Good. 1. The location is spectacular in the national park, overlooking a valley with giraffes, water buffalo, and zebra grazing below. 2. The main building is really nice with views over the valley and restaurant and bar open to the valley. On colder days, they can close over the open area with folding windows. The rest of the grounds are very well-maintained and there is a lovely inifinity pool. 3. The rooms are spacious, and there is a huge and comfortable bed. The decor is very nice and there is a good seating area outside. Our room was facing away from the valley, but there were good views out the hills. At night, you are escorted to and from the rooms, in case of animals. 4. The bathroom had a good shower and looked out over the hills. Good toiletries. 5. The service was good and friendly, and the guides on the game drives knew a lot. 6. The food was excellent. Breakfasts were really tasty, and the 3 course evening meals were of a high standard. The beef fillet we had was stand-out good. The afternoon tea was also nice. 7. Onto the main event- the game drives. We went on morning and evening drives for about 3 hours each time. There was usually a stop about halfway. The scenery was spectacular, and we saw a lot of wildlife. We saw 3 of the big 5 easily- elephants, rhino and water buffalo. We saw lots of other animals like zebras and giraffes and a pack of wild dogs crossed in front of us. The undoubted highlight was seeing 3 lions just after a kill as they sat in the road. Made it 4 of the top 5. Absolutely spectacular! A lifetime highlight!! In general, there were fewer big cats than at other locations, although we spotted cheetah at a distance. The Bad 1. A couple of minor issues- there were a couple of minor repairs needed in the rooms- a roller blind fell off when used, and the shower had a wobbly tile.

This place is absolutely wonderful! The guides are so knowledgeable and helpful. The staff are some of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. The food is fantastic. And the wildlife, spectacular!

Outstanding lodge that is very high end. Staff go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. My son was ill and they went to deliver his dinner in person! Enjoyed a facial and a tub soak in the villa. The walking tour was outstanding. The safari drives were fancy and evening included wine and cocktails. Saw the big 5 and lots of close encounters with hyenas, elephants and rhinos. The food was so delicious and they accommodated multiple food preferences in our tour group.

Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge leaves nothing to be desired. It is located in the Hluhluwe Wild Reserve in a stunningly beautiful area. The accommodation is luxurious, food and service excellent. The morning and afternoon safaris are conducted by experienced rangers who know their stuff and are good communicators. We saw 4 out of the big five and lots of other wild animals. If you are set on cats, Hluhluwe is perhaps not the ideal place, but I would recommend Hluhluwe and Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge anyway and without reservation!

We were really spoiled at Rhino Ridge Lodge! The drive from the gate takes an hour with spotting of rhino's, elephants and more. After a steep climb, we were welcomed by the friendly staff and either a magnificent view over the valley. A sumptuous lunch followed by a safari drive with more animal encounters. The villa's are large and luxurious and staff professional and friendly. We would love to come back!
